I have a 10 bolt and a D44 with the hugh hubs. Both are open. The rig is a 90 burb 3/4 ton. Which axle assy would be better? Both have 4.10's.
 
IMO its a toss up, some think the dana has a stronger center section......
Use the one thats in better shape and keep the other one as a spare. It has been my experience that burbs and 10 bolts don't mix :doah:
 
In the front? It really doesn't matter. Their axles shafts are the same thickness, stubs too. Ring gears are the same size.....really doesn't matter....they are the same strength in reality.
 
I find the 10 bolt parts easier to find.

Also, they are much easier to set up.

They both have pros and cons. But I would choose the 10 bolt because I think they are slightly stronger in the carrier/ring gear area. Other than that, they are dead even in the strength dept.
