which muffler?

I'm replacing my old mufflers on my 6.2 diesel stock, pretty sure its 2 1/2 pipe havent measured it yet . I plan on putting j-code intake on eventually.

Flowmaster 70 Series!! Sounds like a big block. I have 3 inch inch exhaust all the way thru.

I just ended up cutting the exhaust around the mid-door area and put on a pair of 2 1/4" Thrush glasspacks. Nothing fancy here, but does the trick.

im just looking for a decent free flowing muffler, thats a decent price, if you got any suggestions for a good muffler for diesels please post a link

Just put the stock mufflers on. 6.2s sound like junk with mufflers made to make gas motors sound good.

I don't like glass pack sound, I don't like no muffler sound, I don't the stock muffler sound. I just like flowmaster's performance, sound and they were auctioned to a price of $100 for a lot 6. Speed shop going out of business Sale. They were 3 inch in and 3 out. Wanna buy a set???????

I don't know what a 6.2 would sound like with dual Flows...but I have a single 50 series Flow on mine and it's dead quiet. I've heard glass packs aren't good with a diesel due to soot building up and eventually plugging them though. The Flow is just a set of simple steel baffles.

What size single exhuast should one be looking at??/I know the stupid dutys and what not run 4" single and fit the 88 IFS chassis with little to no mods, my buddies uncle has put it on all of his rigs,LOL.


I'm looking at doing this to my 89 burb, just to make it breath better.

Bigger is better apparently. I have 2.5" single on mine and it seems to do fine. 3" should be better though.

You are correct.
Were I was in the middle east they made some glass packs with bigger hole for the diesels.

I would assume bigger is better, but for a normally aspirated diesel, I would think moderation (without suffocation) would be key.
The new diesels with the big pipes are also running turbos. More air in, more air out.

I know if you go too big with a gas engine you lose low end power, but gain high end efficiency.....not sure if that happens with a diesel as well.
