ok so I am curious... im guessing the air fuel screws are on the front left and right?

those are the air/fuel IDLE circuit adjustments.. they should be out about 2 turns.. but that is only the idle circuit, it's not an overall adjustment...
a pop out the carb doesn't always mean ignition timing, it can also be a lean condition... but with the previous timing issues, it very well could be timing...
