i have decided to buy new 2".5 spring lift and shocks . my question is to you guys in america is how do the different springs compare ? do i have to keep away from some brands ? i have got quotes on shipping to australia and it is going to cost around 800 bucks to ship to me and the spring and shock packages are between 700-1100 bucks this is still cheaper than getting my springs reset over here. can you help with good spring and shocks set up thanks:bow::bow:

I think tough country or Alcan springs seem to be the popular ones I run superlift springs, have not had any issued with them at all.

That's awfully alot of money for just over 2 inches of lift. I would look into some ez inches from off road design and then a small body lift

why i want to buy new springs and shocks is they are 30 year old springs and shocks are nearly just as old as my father bought the truck in 1978. New shocks are going to cost me around one grand here and another $800 for the springs to get reset then they want more for shackles and bushes so to get new springs i think is a better option for me

thanks guys this is the sort of info i want, greatly appreciated. Just one question as you probably guessed i am new to this, if you did a shackle flip would you get side movement from the springs and would you have to strenghthen the shackle mount? these questions might sound stupid but i want to cover all aspects of it

If you need new springs then you gotta get them. Just thowing options out there. Another option would be some used 56s out if a junkyard and then a shackle flip. I'm not familiar with the area so that may not be an option either.
I would go with ORD for springs though. Great guys over there

that whole kit bolt on and go will make your ride a cadilac from stock k5 blazer.

your friends will be in love with the ride if you let them ride in it.

I have done the Off Road Design shackle flip on mine and there is no side to side movement. The new brackets are way stronger than the stock pieces. ORD also sells some stronger shackles and you can get them longer if you want. That may be a better deal for you in the rear as I'm sure the shipping would be cheaper than it would be on springs.

These prices you're quoting are really high. Are you talking Australian dollars or American dollars?

Anyway, you're going to have the coolest ride on the continent once you get through. Who else around there has a GMC Jimmy? All your Holden and Toyota driving friends will be in awe.:D:bow:

Is the price you were quoted from a location in the States? Very interesting that there wouldn't be anysuspension dealers from any of the "big guys" distributing in Australia.

What about Old Man Emu? They make great stuff for wierd vehicles that no one else in the aftermarket wants to support. Maybe they do the same in their home country for their imports. (Strange to think of GM as an import).

OME doesn't make springs for the K-5's or any fullsize GM that I'm aware of. I don't believe the K-5's were ever sold in mass in OZ, so getting suspension bits is probably pretty difficult. We would be more than happy to help you out, either with Tuff Country, or Alcan springs. You can email me, and we can get you a quote. As I used to work for a company out of Australia, I'm sure I can find the most reasonable shipping option.

I'm running Rancho 2.5 inch Pre Runner front springs, part # RS86210 and Rancho
XL shock absorbers. I'm quite happy with the ride and flex (way better than the old 4 inch Rancho springs). At times I wouldn't mind a little more shock though. Maybe I'll add an additional shock in the near future. The nice thing about the Rancho XLs are their adjustability.
