I want to start burning my own chips so im sure ill be asking many dumb questions, but my first question is purely an opinion from someone with experience
I will be using Moates for the equipment. Should i stay with just a burner like the Burn2 or is emulation the better way to go. Is it easier and quicker to start with their APU1 or just do a burner.

With a burner you make a change, burn a chip, install it and see what happens.

With the AutoProm or any emulator you tune live, the chip bin file is open in your laptop and not on the chip so changes are instantly made to emulator.

AutoProm is an Emulator, Cable and Chip burner all in one unit and comes with TunerPro software.

So for trucks covered by this forum you would need an AutoProm (APU1) and a G2 adapter for the newer erasable chips. Chips from our ECM are not meant to be erased and reburned, but can be with UV light and special burner, even then it is not consistent and can ruin a chip. You may be able to find some new chips like this still, I bought the last 100 known? which are a better ST 2732a 24 pin which is what Hypertech, Jet etc... used in the day and not the GM AMD 2732a 24 pin chip.

Let me summarize that! Get the G2 adapter and 27FS512 28 pin chip from Moates to simplify your life!

When I tune someone else's truck I use an 1227747 ECM with this G2 adapter in and the AutoProm. When it is done I burn one of the new ST chips on a special burner and install in guys ECM and reinstall. Once I'm done there's no getting better or need for change unless a major motor mod is done.

Tell Moates I sent you! :D
