White Elephant 01 8.1 burb.

good to know. I wasn't very concerned about the onstar service. Even so this will keep me from chasing my tail.

Front pads done.
Cleaned old grease off the zerks, and lubed.
10 zerks almost like a real truck.
Fog lamps replaced
Driver's side plugs in and Taylor wires on, dielectric grease used.
Broken rear seat latch replaced. Got the wrong color, grrrr. Oh well.

Finish tune tomorrow, then is cooling system time.

Finished the right side spark plugs and wires. I appears I have slight exhaust leak on #8. Going to look into what it'll take to fix, doesn't look fun.
These plugs were cruddier than the left side. They were champion plugs so I'm going with crappy plugs look like that.
Put the interior dash trim back together. and started taking cooling system apart. I wish I had a little more repair history. The water pump has been done, question is when. Witness marks on all the bolts, but they didn't put new hoses on ??

Is that rust or stop leak? If it's stop leak you are in for a fight. I ran a dozen different coolant flush systems through an old 4runner the PO had used stop leak in and it still never got rid of all of it.

I wonder if you could fill it full of dollar store vinegar or if that would hurt anything? Otherwise I used to use Purple Power or simple green for cleaning diesels when they put oil in the coolant.
FYI-windshield washer pumps die when running straight vinegar through them, a guy here at work was running it in his truck to clean the nasty hard plant water off his windshield of his work truck.

Beast of radiator, 38.5" wide at the corner crimp.
Bottom tubes look better than expected.

Flush done. Saw some pink dexcool and only small bit of rust, then clear water. Put 40 psi air on top of the running water shook a little more orange out.

Got the cooling system closed. Just have to drain Dr side of block and fill. Pass side was clean no mud, tried hard to manage the plug removal still got drenched.
Was for sure dripping at both ends of the cross over pipe at heads.

Pulled air cleaner assembly, made removing and installing that big ass radiator easier.
Someone spent the money on a K&N element, @ $70.00, but never oiled it. WTF.
I cleaned and oiled it. Going to make a trip on the K&N then going to do the same trip on wix disposable, and compare mpg.

It has been 40+ years since I bought a new K&N air filter. I remember I had to oil it. I guess I had a heavy hand and my gas mileage dropped @ 8 mpg. So I returned, it and went back to the stock element. Never bothered to try again.
I do use them on my dune buggies, 1 replacement I recently bought didn't come oiled. EMPI, K&N no longer makes the size I need.

Oiling at factory, is probably my fault. Since I returned mine possibly over oiled.:eek1:

4 gals 2 dex concentrate 2 distilled water, looks like 3rd dexcool will be needed
