White letter tires vs. Blackwall

I actually learned a fact that I did not know....when tires are made, apparently the rubber is naturally white...they add black carbon to color the tire black...if that's the case...one day we will see awful ugly designer color tires...just wait and see...

Yes, that is true about the color of rubber...I remember the colored tires we could get for our bicycles in the early 70's...

I do too...I had some pencil eraser red tires...

Yep...I'm that old...:eek1:

BFG was pushing special colored tires about 10-12 years ago. Mainly car tires but I think I remember seeing red BFG AT's. Did NOT test or sell well so it disappeared fast.

white WALLS are for 50 to 80 year olds,30 to 50 year olds do white letters, and 30 and down do blacks or black out. I have noticed its when and where you grew up.

I think it has alot to do with who you grew up with too. If your dad liked the white, you may also like the white. Like father like son, I know thats where I got it from!!

Not age so much, I notice less white letters out west...more in the midwest. I'm 45, and the last tires I had mounted white letters out was in '81.

Glass packs seem to be a mid-west thing too...

Hey Man, Chuck Taylors where the sh!t!!!!

I hate tube socks, haven't had a mullet since I was a little kid in the 80's, have never worn a pair of Chuck Taylors, don't care for glasspacks, am not 30 yet (for a little over 6 months), but I love me some white lettered tires.

I guess it boils down to:
