Computer chip...in the ECU which recieves and sends out information to the engine. Custom "burned" chips modify values recieved to boost performance.

Pretty cool new product if you're only looking to work on one ECM. It's basically a flash-based replacement for the EPROM. The "Pro" version can even be tuned in real-time. They've got a thread full of information and you can talk to the creators over at thirdgen.org . First page has a picture of it placed right inside a 1227747 ECM.
