who else has slow-ass wipers

My wipers are too fast. I think my switch is bad and I only have the high speed option. I also can't get the wipers to turn off gracefully... they just stop where you turn them off, they don't revert to the lower position automatically.

I don't think I have ever seen a k5 or a truck that the wipers went back to the bottom on.

Mine are stuck on about medium and the other day didn't work at all.

That might be caused by a bad wiper control module, which is on the steering column under the dash.

I haven't personally done the swap myself yet, but my understanding is that it is nearly a bolt on swap.

It does require you to put a new connector onto the wiring right at the motor, but the wiring inside the truck is all the same as the newer wiper motors trucks with the controls on the stalk and with the washer pump in the bottle instead of integrated with the motor. Both motors use the same stalk and wiper module

is there a fix for these? 90 sub

my 94 pickup's wipers are ridiculous. i barely use them but when i do they just sort of do whatever they want. my problem is in the switch but i don't feel like dropping the money for a new one right now.

i like the setup on my k5; one switch with a fast setting and a slow setting. simple but it works.

my wipers are slow too but every time i turn them on the washer fluid squirts so ill be driving in the snow with wipers on and washer fluid squirting all over. i think i may wire the washer fluid pump to a toggle switch.

Check the grounding. The motor grounds through a mounting pad, according to what I've just read here in the archives.....;)

There is a switch in the wiper motor that tells it when they wipers are in the "park" position. If it's bad, the wipers will stop in the wrong place. You can check it with an ohm-meter. A little 400-grit polishes up the contacts nicely.

As for the relay mod, it works GREAT on the windows - with no risk to burning out the motors. You are basically replicating brand new door switches and giving the motors the voltage they are supposed to have. I haven't tried a relay mod on the wipers, but it should be more complicated because of the delay/low/high.

I don't think it can be done? IIRC, all of the switching is done on the ground side of it. The 12v supply does not go through any switches, other than the ignition switch.

Where is this switch in the wiper motor?

How do I find out about the relay mod for the windows?

Seriously, the slow wipers and windows (even when freshly lubed) are about the worst things on my truck that really make it feel old.
because it is old Darren.hell i am old and you would think i would remember? my DD has all the speed. when i drive JR. i get pissed.POS WTF???:haha:

I know its old, but i like the fact that its still comfortable and functional. Nothing wrong with updating/fixing things to be good as or better than new!

Just ordered a compass/temp mirror, etc.

I need one of those, where did you order it from?

Ebay. You can buy a kit with the sender, etc, but they are 100-300$.

Gentex makes most of hte mirrors for ALL mfg's, bmw to ford to chevy to mazda, so just about any will work.

I ordered the mirror from a 95-99 salvaged tahoe, for like $30, and a temp probe harness for another $25. Wanted the 2000+ mirror, but it was more expensive.

Just search compass mirror temp on ebay, and you'll find lots.
