Not me. If $20 of steel and a few hours work will get the job done, I'm not spending 10 times that for someone elses crossmember.

I've looked for it and cant find it either. I do remember the one you are thinking about. I thought he said he used 1x2 rect tube or something and some angle to build it. I saw it that one time and then it was gone.

Glad I'm not the only one, I was starting to think I'd gone mad.  I just wish I could find it. The build thread made it look real easy and simplistic.

I'm thinking that may be my post you're looking for. I put it up about a week ago.

I already looked at your post, its not the one I'm describing. Besides, I've been looking for this post since before you even built your crossmember.

well i can't weld (yet) so i guess i'm **** out of luck

Well I'm a complete newbie to welding too. I used to be pretty hesitant about trying to do stuff, then I decided I pretty much just had to dive into it to learn. I just welded on these spring perches the other day, and am working on welding up the cracks in my frame and adding a brace today. Things are a little messy with the flux core, and the welder isn't quite as big as it should be, but I'm making due. Just made my winch bumper a couple weekends ago, and will be doing the crossmember and the bolt-in style steering brace this week. That's quite a bit of practice. Things are getting better. I say just go for it. If you end up with a bad weld, it's nothing a grinder can't undo.

Well I still haven't found the mystery crossmember buried deep in the realms of my memory, but I've seen so many crossmembers now that I think I'll just jump in and see what I come up with. At least we've created a nice resourceful thread linking all kinds of crossmembers.

well i have a little cheesy harbor frieght welder, but it's a piece of trash. maybe i'll bust it out this weekend and play around with it
