You were telling them overdrive but what you meant was lock-up, that could have brought about the confusion in trying to help you. Once we knew what all the symptoms were we figured it out.

Update to my TC problem

I dropped my monster trans out and dissasampled it. Find some parts that were made from monstertrans but not recommended from ATSG. Today I made the, as announced, New Pump, of this tranny. What I found was a sticking TCC valve in the pump, so I guess there was no release of the clutch and the engine stalls down, also sometimes the hard clunk noise from under the truck when the TCC opens without the connector plugged. Also I find a light blue spring in the boost valve assambly, but the 700R4 shift kit needs there the dark blue.
The bronze plated washer in the shell is worn like the grand canyon, the reaction hub too, after 4000miles. I hope I´m now expert enough after learning the how to do on houndreds of papers to rebuild the trans.

Interesting to see this now, not sure how I missed it, unless I just wasn't around that much then,,,

But from your first description of the trans not downshifting into 1st gear at stops, and starting out in 2nd gear, I had this happen for awhile with a '94 Silverado with a 4L60e trans, right after rebuild.

It wouldn't always downshift into 1st gear at stoplights and would start out in 2nd gear, but would usually shift down real quick a very short time after hitting the gas to accelerate.

Didn't like it, never did anything about it, it eventually stopped doing that, but then 2 years later I blew it up pulling a Ford 150 on a couple hundred mile trailer transport.

Installed the rebuild trans today, but, I think made a mistake inside. The truck only moves in 1st and reverse gear, the first only engages if lever is in 1st position, no movement in (D),D,2 position. I don`t know were I have to look now. The manual gives no help.
What happens, when I misassampled the forward sprag ? The low/reverse sprag there is no way to misassample it, does not match together then. ????????????

The low sprag inner race freewheels to the right and locks to the left in case you want to check that one. It is hard to install backwards but not impossible.

you are the best, that was my guess too. I assambled the trans looking the DVD video, the chilton and the atsg manuals and changed at this way the
interpretations of clockwise and counterclockwise by holding the sprag in my hands. Okay, so I have a working weekend and learn more on rebuilds.

thanks

hold the sprag assembly in your hand with the larger splined race facing up. Grip the smaller splined hub in your hand, and with your free hand rotate the larger hub/race. Should freewheel to the right, lock left.

Hi Greg,

today I dissasampled the trans again, the forward sprag was right like introduced in the manual, but what I found was a low roller turning to both sides. I hope that was the mistake, doing the trans in again tomorrow.

hi guys,
I wanna tell you, the rebuild trans works well since rebuild a few month ago. I think, better than factory. I´m happy on this...
