Who has coils front and rear????

I just linked the front of my 79 GMC and am way happy with it.
Im considering options for the rear= 4 link parallel, 4 link triangulated, 4 link double triangulated, 3link etc. Im afraid body roll will be an issue.
Post some pics and advice.
 
I am running soft leaf springs up front and coil springs in the rear and it has body roll pretty bad for street driving. I couldnt imagine doing that for a truck that is mostly driven down the road.
 
Why would coils roll more?

I'm asking from an admitted n00b perspective.

My G/F's Tahoe was coiled in the rear and it handled great. It's always been my understanding that you either build for street or the trail, and making it better on one compromises the other. Correct? :confused:

Swaybars. Most coiled rigs have swaybars, even alot of comp rigs run swaybars. Also the spring rate will effect body roll. The softer the spring the more flex but also more body roll. If you run a soft spring and have a way to set them up sway bars can be a good addition and if done properly will not hinder flex.

I wanted to say sway bars, but I'm not confident on my suspension tech yet.
 
i double triangluated 4-linked the rear of my k30 and with new shocks there isnt much body sway at all. my coils spring rate was 300lbs/in. if you do your research you can make the setup very streetable

I read that if you link and coil the front like I have and run a double triang rear 4 link that body roll becomes more of an issue.
Anti sway bars are an option. I would have to custom make them.
 
Thats cool. Im planning something similar for the rear of my rig.

Ive just about completed to front link suspension. Im very happy with the results on and offroad its awesome.
Now I need some advice on the rear.
I want to link it. But will load and towing capacity be severely reduced?
That can be avoided with stiifer springs, but doesnt that negate most benefits of a linked suspension?

Maybe. The one thing about leaves is that they are progressive rate which means that the more you compress them the stiffer they get, especially after you hit the overload spring. Coils are linear rate, they will compress the same amount per load no matter what.

This is why all of the pickups still use leaves in the rear.

Soft springs are not most one of the benefits of a link suspension, you could run super soft leaves if you wanted to. You could run stiff coils if you wanted to.
