Who has coils front and rear????

Maybe. The one thing about leaves is that they are progressive rate which means that the more you compress them the stiffer they get, especially after you hit the overload spring. Coils are linear rate, they will compress the same amount per load no matter what.

This is why all of the pickups still use leaves in the rear.

First off, how much are you towing?

The links themselves would be fine for towing, its the coils that may present an issue. There are progressive rate coils out there but I don't know how easy they are to get. You could probably get a spring manufacturer to make some for you.

And you don't have to use a progressive rate spring in the rear, I'm just explaining that's why the OEM's still use leaves in the rear; to keep from bottoming out the rear suspension while towing. If your load is light enough compared to the rate of your coils it would probably work fine.

You can always use coils and airbags (or just airbags) too.

Soft springs are not most one of the benefits of a link suspension, you could run super soft leaves if you wanted to. You could run stiff coils if you wanted to.

Progressive rate coils are available. But I would stay away from them on a tow rig. It would be costly to trial and error a set depending on trailer nose weight.
 
Just use a dual rate setup. Say a 150# pound top spring and a 500# bottom spring on a coilover shock.

Simple easy package to deal with.

That sounds interesting.
Except for the cost of coilovers...I could probably trial and error a dozen set of coil springs for the cost of a set of coilovers.
That doesnt mean I wouldnt want to use coilovers. I just dont think they are in my budget.
