Anywho, my flaps slide into my receiver and when I hit the trail they come off... I hate them, hate the way they look, but oh well. The biggest thing that bothers me is all day I see these big ass street trucks that never go off road with 18" of lift and 44x21" STS's and they never have mud flaps... And I see them go right by cops with no problems. I go by a cop with 6" of lift and they pull me over /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Boohoo, sorry about your luck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

why do you even care? I though you didn't care what it looks like so why not just leave them on. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Well uh my guess would be that since I put a bitch load of work into my truck to give it a good departure angle, I probably wouldn't want to leave the flaps on and basically undo all that work /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Remember your own words, think before you post.

Maybe you should read your history before you make half-cocked remarks that are ignorant in nature. It's along the same lines as using a certain other word that has been associated with half a** work.

Having to put up with that BS for the five years that I lived in the Central Valley, it just shows at just how ignorant people can be.

No, you made 2 statements in that post, and I answered one of them.

To your latest question, I think it is because they are not scratched and dented. Maybe if I did some trimming and ripped some holes in them with a knife and gave them some rock rash I would like them /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

You think I don't have to deal with it? FYI, I live in the central valley too and got a mud flap ticket not to long ago not to mention a superduty went by on 40's with no flaps as I was getting a ticket. Thats California. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Since it's Friday, I have nothing better else to do than sit here in my underwear and webwheel, I'm feeling benevolent for the less fortunate and I'll give ya a clue, I'm not talking mudflaps. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

i am sure he does care, as do I, i don't have a pretty truck, but its a damb fine lookin truck TOO ME, and one of the shitest looking thing to do to a truck is mudd flaps they look like crap. Look at the pic of the h2 on the boards today, regardless of how anyone feels about the that truck, the mud flaps on it look horrable, i feel for the guys who are forced to use them /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I LIKE MUD FLAPS!

J/K - I like them on heady-duty trucks, not light-trucks. They may save your paint if your truck is new.

The body molding used to deflect most of that stuff when not mudding, now it just flies. I Love Texas.

OK, I guess I have to be the oddball.

I used to run mudflaps. I got tired of taking them off and putting them on each time I went wheeling. Now I leave them off. When my truck becomes a PLQ again she'll get the mudflaps put back on 'er.

I prefer to keep the rocks, mud, salt, sand, tar, red asphalt, chewing tobacco, and gum off my paint. A side effect of doing this is that the people behind me don't get hit by it either. A rock, due to spin coming off a tire, can easily take out the windshield of a car 300-400' away.

I think of mudflaps as a common courtesy.

What's the law on mud flaps in CA? I don't run them, but I only have 33's and like 2" lift. How about Oregon? I am taking a road trip to Bend sometime in the next few months, and I don't wanna get pulled over.

[/ QUOTE ]

If the tire sticks out from the wheel well, then you are required mudflaps. It's a hit and miss thing in CA and also officer discretion. My wife has been pulled over for it, though she was within the law.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks Bubba, I'll chalk that up as a vote for 4 1/2" BS when I purchase wheels in a couple of weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

you guys should try what I did, that is to get the brackets from a peterbuilt truck, they are 3"x3"x1" and bolt on with 4 small bolts each and then you cut down the arm (lengwise to your designated length, cut down the flap to fit, and bolt it together. one end of the arm drops into the bracket a removable cotter pin holds it in place, and wallah!! removable mudflaps that are strong, and look OK if you cut them straight. it takes all of about 30 seconds to remove them when its "THAT" time!!

The brackets are generic to many brands of trucks. "Truck-Pro" (Autozone for semi trucks) has them fairly cheap. You are right on the ease of removal, if I had to run flaps I would run these.

I really can not stand them. A CHP asked me to put some on once when I slowly passed a m/c wreck in the mountains. I said OK, but just can't find the time. My neighbor down the street just lifted his 91 burb 8", and all of a sudden has mud flaps. He got a citation. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

That would be me! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifI only got a warning once with the 42's. Other then that havent had any other problems. The thing with the big truck crowd is when we do get pulled over, we get it signed off then take them right off.

I have to agree with what rjfguitar said about how your guys didnt care about how yor trucks looked, I thought you didnt? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You guys sure do get really wound up about a silly little law, its not like there stuck on there for good, just take em off. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I just got pulled over yesterday for no mud flaps by a county mounty. They never even look twice usually, it's always the state pigs. While I was sitting there other trucks were driving by with no mud flaps. The guy was giving me the attitude and the bla, bla. Then the I'll give you a warning ticket this time bs. Gee thanks pig don't you have any better things to worry about than mud flaps. What a joke! There is so much crime out there to worry about and they complain there underfunded to do anything about it. How about stop wasting your time to bug law abiding citizens about mud flaps.

i think mudflaps are gay /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif
