Who here has atleast 200,000 original miles of more on their motor ?

how does it run ?

does it use oil ?

what about your tranny, 200,00 miles or more ?

I've got 239K on mine and it still runs fine. It does use about a quart of oil every 2000 miles or so. The only thing that has been done to my original engine is i replaced the intake gasket about 4 years ago because of a water leak at the rear of the manifold, other than that never been cracked open up to that point.

I have a new engine i recently built that i'm just waiting for a better time to install.

My motor had 180K on it when I rebuilt/stroked it. The bearings all looked good, it had good oil pressure and drove fine. It burned a little bit of oil on startup (it had the original valve seals). The valve covers had never even been off of the motor, I'm sure it could have gone a lot further.

The truck has right around 200K and I'm still using the original (untouched) SM465 :D

I don't know what I got anymore , speedo is off so far now with 35's and 4.56 I can't just buy a plastic gear , I need an external box . It says I am at 77,776 and has been around once .

Original 305 shortblock , new heads at 88,000 miles , what I think was a rebuilt 700r4 when I bought it just a little before that . A little smoke now at startup once in awhile , a little slow with a trailer up mountain grades , but runs like a top :thumb:

My 93 K2500 longbed has 198,000 plus with all original motor and 4l60e combo , runs like a top , and pulls strong regardless whats in the bed or on the hitch

My key was buying trucks owned bu old people , and being religious about the fluid changes , and lmiting my high rpm excursions . I treat my truck better than my wife :ignore:

i have 251,000 miles on my Burb. the engine, trans & TC are stock. except for headers, intake & TB spacer. i do have a rearmain seal leak, not to bad though.

I'm close at 195K. I've only had it for 2+ yrs, but nothing looks like it has ever been disturbed. It smokes a little on start up, but it doesn't need more oil between changes. Doesn't have any guts left though. :o

My '87 burb before this one, that I sold to my sister, had 214K before it blew up. Then her tranny blew up a few weeks after they replaced the engine. I think she just has bad luck. It probably would have gone another 50K for me. :p: (hope I don't jinx myself)

I had about 215,000 miles on the motor, the motor was running alitle under powered. I got a good deal on a rebuilt so i swaped it out.

My old 77 was getting up near the 300K mark when I finally had to rebuild it. it used oil, but actually not too bad. Maybe around a quart a month.. or so. If not watched carefully, it would foul a couple of plugs. But I checked & cleaned them fairly often, and changed them every year or so. LOL :o

When I did rebuild it, and tore it down there were a couple of interesting finds:

1. It had been using an eletronic fuel pump for many years, and the old one had been by-passed and left in place. The cam shaft was worn nearly in two where the old pump rod had just rubbed the cam. :eek1:

2. The timing chain was so loose it felt like it would have jumped off the gears if a grasshopper would have gotten between it and the gears. :D

My Burb's engine went for 286K, blew a head gasket last spring and put a GM crate motor in. Probably could've saved it but it was getting a little tired by that point.

my 1974 chevy 350 has no more power but it still runs. It finally left me stranded 165 miles from home with 190,000 miles still running on stock heads that have soft seats(lead). Uses 1 quart every 1500 miles approx. The stock th350 looked rebuilt at some point and the p.o. welded on the bell housing to fix a crack in the tranny.

my 82's original 350 snapped a rod at 266K miles. so, i plopped in a remanned 350 and my tranny, diffs (everything but the engine and tires) have 269K miles, now. actually a little more, since i didn't regear the speedo when i went from 31" to 33" rubber. the tranny hunts near 70mph, sometimes, but if i raise or lower my speed by 2 or 3 mph, the tranny picks a gear and sticks with it.

My DD just turned 236,000. I had problems with it not to long ago and I think I got the timing off JUST A HAIR! I lost about 2 to 3 MPG and it idels a little rough sometimes.

My burb twisted the speedo off after I drove through some high water and it froze up. Who knows how many miles are on it.

My 97 crewcab with Gen VI 454 has 256K and is still strong. At 160K I had a roller lifter lock up and wipe a cam lobe. Installed a Comp Cam and lifter set, had the injectors checked, and untouched since then. Oil pressure is starting to show signs of its age when idling. Has gone from a steady 60 psi down to about 35 psi. Tranny was taken apart at the same time looked new, put it back in the truck as is.

I also have a 95 Camaro V-6 with 254K on it, never been into, only smokes on start up sometimes. Been a great car.

My 350tbi has 289674 miles on it, and it runs great! It doesnt burn oil. I replaced the rear main when I did the trans, so it doesnt leak oil.

My 1989 Blazer has 182,000 on it. Motor looks original. Not sure about the tranny and transfer case. Bought it from a dealer.

My 1990 crewcab has 215,000 on it. Original motor, tranny and transfer case. It is a big block so it uses oil!! :wink1:

my 91 s10 has over 238,000 on it. its got a 4.3 and 700r4. only thing I have done to it is replace the fuel pump and a rear tailshaft seal on the tranny. that truck has been through hell. it spent its first 40,000 miles pulling a boat to and from the lake everyday, then I bought it from my grandpa and its been hauling my junkyard jewels home every since!!

My Suburban has 218,000 on it with the original engine and no oil leaks. It was using a quart between changes (3000miles) until I switched to Valvoline high mileage oil. Now it doesn't use any. The tranny let go around 180k.

My dads work truck had 240k on the Big block.

I think the timing chain went.
