WHO HERE HATES CHROME?

I will admit I have the billet dash and interior. You may think its gay, but its worth it when a girl rides with me and shes wearing a tight little skirt /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

But on the outside of the truck, anything that resembles chrome is either stainless steel or aluminum.
 
I HATE chrome on new vehicles cause it looks like crap and its just chrome plated plastic. Chrome on a truck is bad too. But give me a 1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery and hell yea chroome would be all over it. I like chrome but only on old cars.

The main problem with chrome today is that they apply it so thin that you can almost see through it. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Nearly anything that was chrome plated 20 or more years ago will have WAY more chrome on it than the crap they sell as chrome plated these days. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif And if it says Made In Taiwan, or Made In China on the box, odds are it will have rust spots within a week of installation. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Chrome can be done tastefully be has no place on a hardcore rig. DD can get away with some. I like the look of chrome on engines, it really spices things up.
 
I dont mind chrome in certain amounts. For example my pickup has the stock bumpers, the "chrome" side trim Seirra Classic style, and the chrome rims I have, which are also stock, the aluminum trim around the wheel wells and the brushed aluminum around the back of the cab. I have considered getting a Diamond Plate toolbox also, mearly because there is a real good sale on them right now. I think i have just about the right balanced amount on my truck. Although then you look...i have no lift and 31s. I dont plan on ever going above a 4 inch lift and 35s. Most likly just a 2 inch and 33s. I only ever really go muddin. My truck is in no way shape or form a hardcore rig. And it probably never will be. Although it can climb a mean driveway... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
If i ever build a strictly off-road right, there wont be any chrome on it, for beating the piss out of something, why would you want to spend money dressing it up with chrome, /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif It makes no sense to me.
 
So what's wrong with having a complete/cherry K5 with the stock chrome/brushed aluminum? Not everyone is into beating the snot out of their rig, I like to once in a while scope out my k5 and reminicse (sp?) on how nice these trucks really are. So if chrome is gay that means that if I get butt hurt because I have all the OG chrome I can just pick up a bunch of rattle cans of black paint and make it look tougher by painting it and become a bigger poser because now I drive a "tough" looking truck which is still stock underneath as opposed to before when I had a nice looking truck that was stock underneath in the first place.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Here in new england,the only thing that rusts faster than GM trucks is the CHROME on the bumpers and trim---most older trucks here have "spray can chrome"hiding the bondo and rusted chrome underneath!.I have no use or desire for it--I'd rather have that milky looking aluminum diamond plate on everything--no maintenence! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Very nice!

The wheels are a bit too wide for the tire IMO, but overall it looks real nice.
On a somewhat-stock-appearing truck like that, chrome (or polished SS or Al) looks good in moderation .

I'm sorry, in my earlier post against chrome, I didn't realize that some of you apparently need (according to your own posts) chrome on your truck to get laid. I never found that to be a requirement myself, but, as I always say, to each their own. I guess ya gotta do whatever ya gotta do... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I still say I like the understated "de-chromed look even for most street rods, though I do agree on some cars it can look nice, and no reason to ditch it if you like stock/resto...
