Uhhhh WHEEL BRAKES?

Anyways, I found another company the other night, but
I might be thinking of the TC Design. They look to be the narrowest option.....

I cannot make up my mind.

I also like the ouverson Super 8 kit.

Which way are you leaning?

I know a guy that runs them

Well I asked who run's wheel brake's not pinion brake's. The axle 's have pinion brake's on them , and I want wheel brake's.I am leaning toward the thread on pirate by drivetime. But not sure yet . 600 an axle is cheaper than all the other's. Although I really like the super 8 Kit . But money is alot @ 750 a corner.

I'm just curious why you want to run wheel brakes. The pinion brakes actually stop quicker than wheel brakes untill you reach higher speeds. Did you happen to see last week's Xtreme 4x4. They were working on rockwells, had some good information.

I want to run wheel brake's because it will occasionally be driven on the road. It seem's as tho it might not be worth it tho. The kit I really need is Randy's Kit . I am thinkin I will run pinion brake's till I get enough coin for that tho. It is 750 a Wheel , but the only way I can use a wheel smaller than 20".

I thought those brakes looked cool. no only if can find some decent Rockwell's for my k5.

If you have not called and talked directly to Randy, you need to. his website is not up to date. its $475 a corner for the super 8 conversion. thats without any braking options. if you have fab skills you can use 3/4 ton rotors and calipers. or step up to 60 rotors and calipers. You would need to make your own mounting brackets.

If you were running a non steer rear axle it would be easy. the knuckles makes it hard to fit everything.

I wouldn't buy anything USA 6x6 sells simply because of all the negative feedback there is all over the internet.

I am thinking about running 4 wheel brakes and pinion brakes for my parking brake, utilizing the Cadillac rear calipers that I did not use when I WAS going to run my 14 bolt.......maybe front and rear emergency brakes...:)

if you are running military tires that weigh in at 279lbs a piece(those are what the 14.00R20 XLs weigh) plus the 75 lb. rim the single caliper pinion brake will be terribly overstressed/overloaded if driven on the street. You will also wear out pinion bearings using a pinion brake. Going with out board mounted brakes is the best option in my opinion.

If you are listening to those guys on Xtreme 4x4 then you need to see a shrink. They Identified a Visteon 10.25 as a D70 and said the SF and FF 14 bolts had the same ring gear size in one episode. Pretty smart fellers there if you ask me.

I am looking at F550 for the four corners.

As you can see I highlighted where I said I was going to run the Pinions as my emergency brake setup.

Thanks for the heads up!:D

I definitely want reliable GOOD brakes on the street.

If that was for me, I was refering to another reply. Sorry for any confusion. Your idea sounds like a great setup.

I'll be watching this thread closely.......I'll be inserting rockwells and 16r20 XZLs under my Dodge in a future morph......

I've got 20" Stazworkd rims so I'd like the biggest disks I can fit.....due to the intended street driveing.
