I haven't used aftermarket braided line much. I bought some to do and oil cooler then realized it was the wrong size. I kept it to use later. I have some Summit racing branded and some Jegs branded. These are both screw on straight -6 AN (3/8ths). The largest drill bit I could fit in the Jegs was 13/64ths while the Summit brand fit a 1/4 easily maybe even 17/64ths. This is a pretty big restriction, I measured a brass barb 3/8 fitting 5/16 drill fit easily.
Fluid restrictions cause heat, something I would like to avoid, since most if not all will be cooler lines.
So has anyone else noticed this and what brand do you like best.
Also what is the best method to get the collar over the braided hose?

Summit on left Jegs on right

Aeroquip, Russell

I tape the ends with electrical tape, then cut
Shove evil pointies in with a small screwdriver

I usually put the fitting in the vice. Dab of antiseize on the threads and the nipple

Your splitting hairs worrying about the restriction in sizes. Your engine temp will heat and cool down the line far more then that. I wouldn't worry about it.
I typically just use the summit brand.
Or if someone has a special when I'm buying.

Buy a set of an jaws and a koul tool easy on AN assembly tool. Worth it's weight in gold.

Pop the fittings in the vise with the soft jaws and screw it down. I use liberal amounts of Water Displacing on the 40th try.

Cutting the hose I wrap up the electrical tape and cut it real quick with a cut off wheel on my grinder.

Electrical tape will come off once you push the hose into the fitting into the assembly tool.

I used the summit brand fittings and hose on my blazer. Been on there two years with no issues.

I’ve run summit brand fittings on the majority of my builds. Some of the odd adapters are Russell or Fragola.
