Yeah so who's got somethin real cool for fillin diffs, tcases, transmissions, etc?

I've used tubes and funnels, but that's a pain in the neck. I've tried the suction guns, but both have leaked ridiculously during use. Then I bought a mityvac fluid evacuator/dispensor.

Well it might be ok for motor oil and ATF, but it's useless for gear oil (despite advertising its use for this on the box). It leaked out of the box, and once I got it goin it would just dribble gear oil...pathetic:mad:

So I've seen a couple of you guys usin pressurized canisters, what else ya got?

I usually just cuss it into submission. Then I clean up the mess that I made in the driveway. I think about 10% of it ends up on the floor.

I do hope that someone has some good info here though.

Those bottles that you buy gear oil in, work fine for diffs. I saved one of those bottles and use it for filling ATF in the T-case and the trans; built-in funnel.:D

Yeah I've done that too, it's not bad when you gotta just top it off or whatever. But between all the gear oil the 60/14 and 465/205 hold I'd really like something s00per quick for filling:o

I use one of the tube jobbies that screw onto the bottle of lube. It works great for me, and keeps the driveway a little cleaner.

There is always that slide pump thing. Put the hose in and pull the handle out, then put the tube in the tcase and slide the handle in. I think there is one on top of the compressor cabinet.

THey always take a **** eventually. Use it for ATF or some thin lubes once or twice and it will leak like crazy and make more of a mess of you than anything. There are some good ones, but even a Snap-On one quits after a little bit of use.

BG sells a SWEET machine, that will suck out and fill an axle. Its the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then our dealership switched away from BG to Valvoline and we lost that thing. We tried looking for something to replace it, but didn't have any luck.

The old bucket pump is probably the best, most realistic item for the do-it-yourselfer. http://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/toolcatalog.jsp?cattype=T&cat=2455&page=1&#51950

Can end up cheaper to buy your lubes in bulk too. Especially if you are doing services often, as you should be if running offroad often.

I use this. Works great for me, although it can wear out your arm after a while.

They have them on the shelves at the local parts store.

ooooooooooo I like the look of those bucket pumps. I'll have to find one of those. Thanks guys.

I've got one of those $8 cheapie pumps I bought at Kragen or AutoZone when I was in the Marines 8 years ago or so. Works fine and if you pay attention doesn't leak any more than just pouring the bottles in. Cleanup can be a pain but I've learned some tricks. I've used it for everything and it still works fine.

However I've now discovered the wonderfulness of of drain plugs in diffs. I can change the oil in my Tracker and XL7's diffs faster than just Big Ugly's diffs. As soon as I can afford it the D60 and 14FF are getting diff covers with drain plugs. SOOOO much easier and you don't have to take the cover off unless you need/want to. I haven't used that pump in over a year.

I use something similar to this one....found mine at OSH or Home Depot, I believe. Had mine for quite awhile.

Says not to use on gasoline...I emptied the last remains of my gas tank, when dropping it for the shackle DIY kit. Dangerous, I know.

I've got one of those. I use it for my tranny/t-case but for anything heavier that ATF, the thing sucks ass because it takes quite a bit of strength to suck the gear oil up, then to push it out. Then repeat about 8 times to get all the needed gear oil in there. Mine still makes a mess...

I use the drill pump method too. I have a little better one so mabey it works better. All I did was make the hose long enough to sit the drill motor on the ground. Of course I also buy gear oil on gallon containers. Sure beats the squeeze

Agree with Blazinzuk, that was just an example I found on the internet to convey the idea. Like anything else, U can find junk that doesn't work or pay more and get a better product. Mine is made of metal and does the job fairly well....whatever works for ya.
