I have a line that is starting to show it's age....

Anyone replace them with braided stainless? Looks like AN is the best way to go... can those be ordered or would I be better off getting the tools to assembled them?

I've never used braided stainless, but I have used Implement hydraulic hose. They can be made at you local JD dealer or NAPA store, for instance, with the proper fittings, thus eliminating the need for AN fittings.

Hmm interesting. I imagine that is pretty durable too?

What about a flare fitting for the radiator side?

i've been running braided ss trans lines for 4 or 5 yrs.. well, was...

What all is used to make the lines? I have a pretty good idea of what to use to adapt to the trans, radiator, and cooler.. just not sure on the lines.

Aren't both ends the same size and flare? Either way, if you take a sample of the ends you want to mate to and the desired running length, they can make them up for you while you wait, providing the ends are in stock.

Yes, they are quite durable as long as you watch your routing a little bit.

reusable AN ends of your choice.. straights are always cheapest.. and hose of your choice.. summit is your friend.. or the debil, not sure! :haha:

Any recommendations? I'm sort of wandering in the woods with this stuff.... :eek1:

How are the lines assembled?

My 4L80E is an older model so I've got that part easy at least....

I'm going to replace my small B&M cooler with the 8x11 one with 1/2" NPT threads.

I have run braided line on my with no problems. That B&M cooler is the one I'm go with on my K5.

Look at the kit posted, I would probably need two more fittings, few more feet of hose, and fittings for the radiator side... hmmm.

yes, those look correct iirc.. might wanna double check that rad size...

it can get pricey in a hurry.... #6 ain't bad.. i'm pricing out some #10 stuff and that hurts..

like i said, straight is way cheaper.. the difference between a $6 straight and a 90 at $30 adds up quick.. do your fitting angles in NPT to AN whenever feasable, then run a straight hose end..

models and brands on hose and ends can vary too.. summit has a budget line of fittings and hose out... tho i have heard a couple iffy things about durabilty of finish on them.. but definitely the cheapest out there i think...

i'm running Earls black ano tuff hose ends and perform-o-flex hose... actually getting ready to do a substantial order myself... tho i'd like to run black braided hose, i've not found anything that holds up nearly as well as the standard braided perform-o-flex hose...

I'm running braided line on mine for a year or so and no problems. I got a roll of summit brand hose and the ends. Its not hard to cut and the ends are easy to put on the hose. I talked to the sales guy and he was able to figure out what connectors I needed on the radiator and tranny sides.

Keeping the rad cooler :waytogo:

Thanks guys... looking at it since I'm replacing all of the hardline it looks like the AN line will be best.
