I am assuming it was dependent on year just like the Chevy's because I know there are both styles available. My friends '78 Ford with the factory front D60 had a neckdown shaft on one side, and a non-necked down on the other. We assume that the non-neckdown shaft was a replacement at one time but don't know for sure (the truck had a 460/C6 swapped into it on custom motor mounts, etc...so definitely not an original truck, but it did come from the factory with the front D60).

I'll bet it's the same difference in model years.
i guess im just gonna have to find out when i start building it...i hate to have to buy another set of shafts
