Why are they so rare?

Is there some reason 83-86 4x4 Chevy trucks(1/2 3/4 1ton) are rare I have been looking in the paper and auto trader for quite some time so lately I have been looking around alot more when Im driving around everytime I think I see one it turns out to be 2wd (theres alot of 2wd's around here)and I did see one in the shopper about a month ago but the guy wanted like $7000. 1 truck thats not so rare seems to be those new superdutys
 
Not rare around here, just good trucks that people dont like to part with /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
 
I had an 86 1/2 ton last year and I traded it in(dumb ass me) on a newer GMC and within a week they sent it to mexico. Mabey that has something to do with it.

How many do you want /forums/images/icons/smile.gif I just parted out the last one I bought to convert a 1966 GMC I sold to a guy from Mississippi to 4x4 Starting Pics. Paid $800 for the 1985 Chevy 3/4 ton ranch truck. I have already traded off the sheet metal to a guy I work with that is putting it together on a 2wd chassis... The body was very rough.

I see these for sale alot for $1000-5000. Check out www.centraloregonnickelads.com and see if you see anything promising. This is a high desert and vehicles are rust free and generaly in good shape (on average). I would be willing to help you look and take a few pics. Possibly even find something you could fly in and drive home.

The reference to the song is due to the way I am building my project truck... one piece at a time from left over parts after I part a truck out. By the time I am done the parts I use are free to me /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
 
Try using my zip code online. Dade City, 33525. When I bought my last truck trader a few weeks ago there were plenty to be had. Ill keep my eyes open around my area. Infact there is a sweet 80 something for sale down the road from me. Its a K20 on 35-36s that has been completely redone. I heard it was listed for 7, but that was about a month or so ago. I am sure he has come down by now. Ill look to see if its still there in the morning, I am pretty sure it is, and Ill get the # if it still is.

Im only 16 so I need to stay somewhat local I could go to date city if there was something there for me. I would prefer a stock truck and pay around $1500-$3000

Ill keep my eyes open then. There was recently a super clean 80 Blazer for sale that was bone stock, w/ the exception of alum. wheels and prob 32 in. tires. Second owner, $1200.00! If I had the extra bucks I would have scooped it in a heart beat. Theres deals to be found, just gotta be in the right place at the right time.
 
yea doesent it always seem like the stuff is there when your not looking for it though? Im really looking for a TRUCK but if a blazer comes around and its a deal ill buy it probably. Ive been looken for the little ol' lady driven around in a 3/4 ton 4x4 for a while now HEHE.
 
from whatb ive seen there is more 2 wheel drive 80's pickups around PA also.also something ive seen is that once someone has a chevy 4x4 they usually dont want to get rid of it.fuel the fire.get a chevy and hold on to it.i wouldnt ever get rid of mine.i looked for 3 years before i bought mine.the price was right and it was close enuf to get easily.
