HERE'S MY RENDENTION OF A QUOTE I SEEN HERE THE OTHER DAY " JEEPS ARE LIKE TAMPONS EVERY PUSSY HAS ONE" HE'S MAD BECAUSE HE CAN'T CLEAR ANYTHING BIGGER THAN WHAT COMES STOCK ON A Z-71 44" TIRES KICK ASS ..... /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif YELLOW K20 12 INCH SUSP 3INCH BODY 44" GROUNDHAWGS

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

I have to agree that I can't stand a truck on 44's. I mean why would you want such serious overkill unless you mud the thing every day? Sky high doesn't make it anymore functional and for off roading small lifts and medium sized tires are the way to go. 4 Wheel & Off Road suggest for tough trails you don't need more than 37's and a 4 inch lift.

Most of the guys around here are running big honking tires (44's) on their pickups with STACKED BLOCKS!! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif They think its the greatest thing, obviously they have never picked up an off road magazine to read how much of a hazard stacking blocks are. And they have the nerve to laugh at me with my 4 inch lift and 33's??. Yet I have yet to see any of these trucks with a spec of mud on them. Leave the 44's for the show trucks.

To each their own but 44's just make it bigger, not more functional. As far as this emnity against Jeeps, thats just stupid. Most Jeeps can handle the trails because of there demensions. I like anything functional whether it be a Jeep, Early Bronco, or my first Gen Blazer. Just because we all own Blazers doesn't mean they are the best vehicle out there. All that trash talk is a waste of time.

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Actually not mad at all. I will be clearing 36's on the ZJ fairly soon.

Why can't anyone take a joke?

However, 12" suspension and 3" body lift is seriously a bit too tall. Cut the suspension lift in about half, that COG is way to high. IMHO

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Well, Hmmmmmm. I have one very good answer as to why to run 44's. Ground Clearence. I ran 38's for years, and I always had a tendency to hang my rear diff. I now have 44's. I haven't had them on the trail, but I am very excited. I don't think that running a 44 automaticly (sp) makes you or your ride a "redneck ride" or stupid. There are a whole lot of draw backs, The width, the weight. I agree. I think if you are going to run 44's you should think long and hard. Especially if it is going to be on the road much. A tire that big effects EVERY component in your rig. the steering works harder, the driveline the tranny, the motor, the frame, Etc. Etc.

If you want to run them, I would personly cut as much of the body. I=Cutting the body does not have to look bad. It can be done in a way that still looks good. Anyways, just my .02

[/ QUOTE ] Around here 99% of all Heep owners are strait up pricks !!!!!!! I personally don't want to be one of those assholes that talk everyone else's rig down just becouse it's not a heep. I think heeps can be awsum rigs, but so can other vichiles. I don't have anything against heeps, just thier stuck up owners !!!!!!!!

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

You may think it's to high but if you seen the mud we play in you wouldn't .44"tires reign supreme in the mud. My k10 has 37 inch MTR's on it and I love them and I have 33" bfg mt's on my ramcharger Wheeling is a vast sport don't condemn the big mud trucks just because you don't do that kinda of wheelin' All the flex in the world don't do you a bit of good in 3 feet of mud /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

I can take a joke. If thats how you meant it than thats cool. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Jokes are fine... but just remember..

There are more rednecks rolling around on 31-35" tires then there are on 44's.

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Ya most of us can't afford them we spend all are money on beer and shotgun shells and coondog food

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

get in the swamp and wheel your truck, there is a time and place for 44" tires and a reason why Interco started making them 20miles from where I live. The need surpasses the show trucks I see around here. check out example....the spill way this is a member NOT4SHW's truck

Does anyone see blocks in the fronts of any of these trucks? Now thats for trailer queens...

Bowtie Blazer - You think you can tone that big picture down a bit? I don't think many people in here run a resolution thats 2140 pixels wide, and it makes the thread real hard to read.

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

I hate to get sucked into this, but what the hay...

Since you mentioned magazines, let's go with that for a second. The mags are good for learning about stuff, but I can't say that there are too many people around here that take them like the bible. How many of the rigs ever covered in those mags for their articles do you think ever actually leave the pavement? And, what about the TTC competition? There is a real competition of real offroad rigs. How many have you ever seen compete in that and do well with less than 40 inches of tire?

And when you talk about "around here", you might want to be a little more specific. If you mean here on CK5, then you obviously haven't paid much attention. I have been on this site for a long time. I was one of the first members when that was offered. And I have NEVER heard anyone on here with any sort of reputation at all talk about running stacked blocks. As a matter of fact, anytime blocks are even mentioned or even body lifts, those are not highly recommended except under absolutely necessary situations.

I run 35s and have for some time. I wheel with a good friend that run 33s. He and I go many of the same places. As a matter of fact, he takes his some places I don't even want to go. A lot of it has more to do with driving skill and lines and other equipment than tire size alone. HOWEVER, there are other times where he and/or myself have been in some pretty big hangups. We eventually ot through them with either a tow, a winch, or a lot of rock piling, but a taller set of tires would have made it easier.

For me, 42s with my 4 inches of suspension lift will work just fine. But, then again, I am from Texas. And we build everything bigger down here!

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Just to add, yes you can follow these guys with anything
under 40" tires. I have.

You can wheel whatever you want as long as it works for
you. I don't care what you wheel as long as you don't
endanger me.

The last ride I went on with a bunch of other CK5ers a Zuk
on 31's led the way. He knew where to go and how hard he
could push it. The guys with 33's to 44's followed him.

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Thats exactly what I meant. MY LOCAL AREA! And just because I just started posting here doesn't mean I don't know anything about trucks or off roading. Get the pole out of your ass.

As far as magazines, what magazines are you reading? Peterson Off Road isn't a magazine about show trucks, it's 99% trail rigs. Article after article comes out each month praising more and more people for settle for low lifts and bigger tires (not 44's) and fender trimming. You don't think they say that just to start a sheetmetal cutting convention do you? It's because it works! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: why SHOULDN\'T i run 44\'s??? Any reasons?

Dude, you're not off to a good start here. Someone definately has a pole up his ass, and it's not Rob. I'd check that attitude if you don't want to get a ration of sh!t every time you post. this is a great site with great people, you were misunderstood in your original post, just clarify and leave it at that. There's no reason to start insulting people. BTW, magazines suck. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
