Is it true they fall apart, they are assemblen in two parts...

A guy told me this, that it cracked right where the 2 halfs meet.

Wich is a good one.

i use the cheap Fram one that has the 3/8" fittings. I think I pay 5 bucks for each one. Never had one break or even leak. I change it every so often, usually once a year.

wix is always a good choice.. napa gold too....

Hey just read a post of someguy mentioning your name..

Yeah the in line filter, a guy freaked me when he told me that they brake.. im running a fram metal filter but cant seem to find any of them in the local stores.

I'm generally not a Fram fan....

Do you have a Napa?

I'm with Ryoken- I stay away from Fram simply because their oil filters completely suck.

Anything sold by Napa is usually built bu a reputable company. I'd also consider calling your local dealership and checking the price on a Delco unit. You might be pleasantly surprised........:thumb:

FWIW, I've never heard of an inline fuel filter splitting in two. I'm sure it's happened once or twice, but that doesn't mean it's something to worry about. Take what you hear from your buddies with a grain of salt.

advertising at work...

and yeah, as mentioned, knowing who sells AC Delco stuff in your area is always good to know...

the Napa Golds are the same as a Wix... quality filter... might run ya a couple bucks more at Napa, but thats Napa...

Yeah, other smay disagree, but from my experience, Fram filters cause a lot of cold start knock, and after reading about the way they're constructed, I'll never buy another one.

I'm a big a fan of Purolator products for my gassers. Either them or Napa Gold(or any other Wix version). I need to go find you a link to an oil filter study from a few years back.

Just remember, this in only one man's opinion. Although I have a feeling this thread might see a little more traffic now........

there are a few test of oil filters online, some of frams were found to cause oil pressure issues, mainly the cheaper ones. Read up or google it.

For a little bling on the air filter, I use a circle track filter that is re-usable and screws apart easily. I like the idea of being able to clean or check the filter if I am having an issue on the trail.

edelbrock sells a nice unit for under 30 bucks with an fitting on it..

Things I have learned on fuel filters and lines, Don't use a rubber line in between the carb and fuel pump..use a quality line or factory hard line. Also don't use one of those cheap glass filters the spectra brand..asking for trouble!

knock? i guess if he has fuel injection maybe. Carb doesnt care as long as the fuel bowls are full and not clogged with contamination.

Wix and Napa Gold ARE the same filters...Napa buys them from Wix, adds another digit(or 2) to the part numbers, reboxes them in a nice shiny new Napa box, and sells them as their own product....that came directly from a regional Wix Sales Manager....no sense paying the extra coin for a "napa gold" filter when wix is the same thing only a bit cheaper

Yeah i always tried to avoid thoose type of fuel filters..

As for the oil filter damn... you guys make good points ill do some research..

BTW look at what this newby post turned out to be...:D

Apparently you missed the part where he mentioned he was running Fram OIL filters........
