Wich is the best gasoline filter.

Wix and Napa Gold ARE the same filters...Napa buys them from Wix, adds another digit(or 2) to the part numbers, reboxes them in a nice shiny new Napa box, and sells them as their own product....that came directly from a regional Wix Sales Manager....no sense paying the extra coin for a "napa gold" filter when wix is the same thing only a bit cheaper

ummm, I know that... read a couple`posts down... I just threw the Napa at the end there cuz I knew someone would go, "you can just get a Napa gold, same thing" look where that got me... ummm, think i mentioned the money too, but like i said, its Napa..

for many it's a good parts source, almost everyone has one, and they work to be "mom and poppish" unlike the parts mill chains... ya pay a little more, but at least you have a good shot at a decent parts guy...

wix is always a good choice.. napa gold too....
Now that's funny, cuz we use Wix at work and they've been a pain in the a$$. Their gaskets suck (at least on their big rig stuff) and we constantly have problems with leaks. The gaskets get hard after a short time in use, but again, these are diesel fuel and oil filters on big trucks. Kinda turned me off on them after seeing so many leaks.:dunno:

I've used tons on the big diesels on the boats.. Cats, Cummins, Detroits, Manns, Yanmar, etc, and they always been awesome for us over the years... never an issue...

hummmm, wonder if it's a plant thing or something..... you are on the other coast...

honestly, your THE first person I've ever heard had a prob with em...

I had never dealt with Wix before, but being a gov't entity, we got them by low bid a couple years ago. It's actually been such a hassle, we were trying to break the contract. Oil filters come in leaking, we've tried tightening them to no avail. In a lot of cases, they are plenty tight when we check them. The other is the fuel filters. Don't usually see a leak but engine hunts and surges like it's sucking air into the fuel. After changing the filter all is good.:dunno:Maybe it's the plant or maybe they're giving us old crap that's been on the shelf too long. It's just not encouraging.

hmmm, noted...

I must do full filters/fluids on over 150 boats a year, so I see a ton of filters... :doah::crazy::(:haha:

but that means I also get spoiled and do TONS of Racor setups...

I stay away from Fram simply because their oil filters completely suck.

i've been using them on both of my trucks as long as i've had them with no problems. maybe i'm just lucky.

for guel filters, i use clear ones so i can see if they're getting gunked up. otherwise, i just swap them every 10-20K miles. i run one before the fuel pump and one after, but i don't use one in the quadrajet itself anymore.

Justa changed my filter to the Napa gold fuel filter.....:D

I had a Fram metal cased filter and seemed to be clogged, some dirt came out of it.

Someone here once said that Fram is painted danger orange for a reason :haha:There is a ton of info out on the internet about them. For the same price, Puralotor PureONE is a better filter, and now they even have the grippy thing.
