So, this morning I got rear ended...

My frame is bent on both sides where the trailer hitch bolts on, and the inside of the bed is tweaked. I'm sure there's other things that I can not see that's wrong. Also, my airbags did not deploy.

Here's some pictures

Army guy was in the ford truck in front of me that I bumped, red shirt guy was driving the mustang.

I looked all over the truck to see if there was more frmae damage, but that's all I could find.

I am going to say total loss there. Did you get the ticket?

Sucks nice truck you had there.

I didn't get a ticket, just the claim number for the report.

The nice thing is/was that it's paid off....

totaled.

Buy it back and you got your LS swap you've been looking for :D

totaled.

Cut off the frame, link back with flat bed :D. SAS front

Or buy it back, buy another truck with front damage but missing drive train. Z cut frame and go. That's if your truck is worth it :(

That's a pretty good hit, looks like it moved the shackle mounts - did it drive straight after that. Even worse that Mustang got jacked up pretty good. Chevy truck > mustang!

What year is your truck?

tow truck driver here : my job

seen it both ways no sure way until insurance adjuster says ya / na .

air bags NOT off = good thing = LOT money to redo them .

the frame tho = :eek1::doah:not good man . and the box floor structure = toast .

if the deal is right buy it back and sell it for parts truck or donor for your ride . but if the price is to high walk away . and you want CLEAN title only on buy back deal .

Is this too bad to be straightened?

Seems like a good option would be to buy it back (if totaled), straighten it and keep driving it.

didn't read the replies... 80% damage of book value total's a vehicle...

I've seen them replace the frame. The truck had less than 10,000 miles on it and only six months old.

I've already thought about buying it back and using the engine and trans in my blazer, but I believe I have the TPI issue sorted out thanks to dyeager.

I've also thought about buying it back and back halving it, or cutting out the section of bent frame and welding in a new section.

Also getting it back and having it straightened, if it can be.

It drives straight and the only damage is the frame and bed floor.

Blue book is between $10,000-$11,000 depending on what site you look at and what condition its deemed to be in. It all depends on what the insurance will give me, how much they want for me to buy it back, and how much it would actually cost to fix.

Total it. Buy it back. Lock and load that sucker and bend the frame some more :waytogo:

heck, they replaced the frame in my bosses 10 yr old Sequoia with a 1/4 million miles on it due to a recall..... :haha:

80% was the industry standards for decades.. could be different now, but the estimates had to be damn close to it to total it...

I ran a Chief Ez-liner for a yr and a 1/2, amazing what you can straighten with them...
