Will my insurance company total my truck? *Not getting totaled!*

I've had 2 cars totaled and they were in the 70% range. They were at the time 7 and 11 years old.

right, it needs to be close...

you just can't say, "oh I don't want that back" if it's got 50% damage...

The problem is, I want the truck. I planned on keeping it until the wheels fell off or engine blew up. Then I was going to fix it and keep driving it.

If it gets totaled, and it's not worth fixing, then I'll probably get an identical one or a 2500.

I can't see how that wouldn't be totaled. What year and mileage?

simple... they're gonna need to write a 7 to 8 g estimate... could get there... go to high-end bodyshops... tho, it's all book time pretty much, so they wont vary too much generally...

I brought it to the collision shop that my insurance (USAA) told me to. I was told I should have an estimate tomorrow. The guy I dropped it off with said he's never seen a frame that bad, but this was just a front counter guy, not a body guy.

Yeah I had the same style truck get hit in the same manner. The insurance totaled it but I bought it back for like 800 I think.

My insurance adjuster just had a computer and put in what was damaged and it calculated if it was totaled or not.

That frame recall from Toyota by way sucks! I did one pays like 40 some hours for rusted out truck and the give you a frame with a box of bolts! I had one lift at work but pulled it off with 2 hours 2 spare.
Yes I am crazy enough to do it again if boss man tells me to since one i am crazy and like that stuff and 2 I have a family to feed :D

DO NOT USE JUST THERE PREFERED SHOP QUOTE . . . . it will be in there favor . get a second one for sure .

and in some states like mine your not allowed to weld / cut within 6" of a suspension mounting point . . . .. more than 6" or after the last point all good for state yearly vehicle inspection .

If they say it's totaled off of just the one quote I planned to take it to a few different shops. I also wanted to see what other shops would charge incase it's totaled and I buy it back to fix it.

Is there a way to make sure I get a clean title and not a salvaged title, if they total it?

just ask them if I buy it back what happens to my title ? I only wana buy it back if its clean no salvage / reconstruction .

I have friend who runs a chevy body shop at a stealership. The only way to not get a salvage title, is to replace the frame with a new one. They have done a lot of them.

Since this should be on the mustangs insurance, not yours, I would think you'll have more bargaining power.

If they do fix it, be sure to press that insurance company for "loss of value" for the truck.

X2, take it to at least two other shops and tell them it's an insurance job, not cash.

Just got a call from the collision center and the guy told me it's no where near totaled. That Chevy sells rear frame sections and it's a common fix.

they do sell them, around $1K for it. Still surprised after labor, parts and paint it's not totaled.

Sounds like good news, is it?

I think it's good news. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the truck and I didn't ever see myself getting rid of it. Plus, it's paid for.

One question though, this is the first accident I've ever been involved in where I had to contact my insurance, so I don't know how everything works.
How would I go about claiming loss of value with the other guys insurance?
