now im runing air shocks and a 4 link i see alot of people running air bumps..whats the purpose in a air bump?why is it better than a regular bump stop?they sure are alot more expensive

Regular bump stops are a bit...abrupt. If you land hard enough, like with desert racing or competition racing, obviously you could damage suspension, the frame, axles, etc. They're sorta like extra shocks that only cover that VERY last couple inches and turn what would be a hard impact into a quick, gentle rebound.

There's a video somewhere of the guy who invented them (or at least majorly commercialized them a few years ago) baja'ing a stock Silverado 1500 4x4 around like it's a race truck.

i see that but alot of people use them on slow rockcrawlers...i dont really see the purpose

You know I would have to coment on this.:D

I think (As already stated) they preform the same task as ordinary bumpstops, but in a more controlled way by making the impact less violent. Also you can adj the pressure of it, to fine tune how hard to hit will be.

Probably...but so are half the Jeeps I see rolling around every day on 35's and larger.

I figure most either want the fancy stuff or figure if they're spending $2k plus on the springs and shocks alone they might as well protect their investment.

If you want to never feel the ride bottom out, air bumps are the way to go. I have had my 6500 pound truck many feet in the air. Never felt the landing. I run 2 inch with 200lbs in them. I will put those on before high dollar shocks. The 39 is going to get a set.
