Will the a 2.8 from an 85 plug in and go in an 83?

I have this 85 2wd S10 but its missing an upper a-arm from the front suspension and I need something to move around. I have a line on an 83 4x4 with no engine or tranny and am wondering if the engine and tranny will swap in with minimal hastle. Obviously, I wont have 4 wheel drive but I dont need it and dont care. So, are the engines the same?

I have no idea what was in the 83. What other engines were available in it and what mods would need to be done to fit a 2.8?

i think they eather had 4 bangers in them, 2.8's or 4.3's. i think the only thing you need is the engine mounts for a 2.8 and the tranny from it, computer maybe too

i dont think thay had 4.3 back then and the oil pan is different i think . plus the d shaft might need some movement or lengthiing.
