windshield gasket

If you pull the passenger kick pannel and stick your head up in the hole. It's to the right, inside the hole. I guess water is diverted into this area via the cowl.

Ahh...so that is looking up inside the sheet metal, where the vent door is when the kick panel is in place?

With the vent in place, the water must drip down, hit the plastic of the vent, and somehow make it's way inside?

Not saying it can't happen, just curious if that's how you think it's getting from up top to the kick panel.

I'd like to hear from others what that piece is for. I can't imagine it's supposed to have a hole that would let water in.

Any screw in either kick pannel has the potential to leak (at least in my blazer). Water enters the cowl and drains down behind the kick pannel area and out the bottom. I removed all fastners and reinstalled with Teflon tape. Also resealed the original cowl seal with quad.
We shall see what happens, not a lot of faith after reading the numerous complaints.
might be easier to pull the rug and install scuppers. :)

Are you talking about inside the corner of the cab when the side vent flip is pulled out. Not sure that water should be coming thru there. You could have cracked seam sealer under the cowl that is letting water get in.

Yes I am. If you look at the photo I posted you can make out the circle the vent assembly mounts in.
Inside this area you can see the cage of the blower fan. To the right you can see a cone/ funnel looking steel stamped part. When the cowl is flooded water passes through this area and out through the bottom of the fender. Or so I think.
The seam sealer was also cracked where the floor/rocker meets the steel kick pannel.
It's going to rain tomorrow, we shall see.
