My 89 Sub has a small leak in the top of the windshield area. It's up by the driver's side visor. It puts out a few drops/minute when there's heavy rain. What should I use to seal it up with?
Well you could try using some silicone to seal it up, make sure it's the 50-year exterior type, should last a while. That would kinda just be a bandaid though, you kinda gotta wonder why it's leaking. The thick rubber gasket type that you have doesn't normally require any type of glue or sealant. So either your rubber seal has deteriorated, or your windshield frame has corroded away.
Or silicon. One of the random parts vehicles that I've gone through didn't have a gasket. It has silicon. Lots of it. But it didn't look like it leaked.
Not sure if this is possible/easy with a headliner or not, but you really need to pull the gasket away from the body inside and out, and look to see if you can find the trouble spot.
As mentioned, no sealer should be needed. On my cab when I got it, I noticed that there was a piece of rogue metal protruding from the windshield seam into the gasket, that had come from the factory that way. It put a bulge in the gasket, which allowed some water to work its way under there. No real damage, but it would leak a bit. Ground that off, problem solved. Of course, the windshield was not in it when I did this.
