Ok so why is everything so friggin expensive for windshield wipers?!?!?!?!

87 no tilt, with intermitency, on the column.
First lemme explain the problem. Windshield wipers only work on high. I get no fluid (although I'm pretty sure this is due to a bad pump because I hear it try to click on), no intermitency, no low. The wipers do not seat when you turn them off.

Now if I leave my wipers on high for a little while the low setting will magically work but still no intermitency and no returning to "home" when I shut them off.

So far I've replaced the magic $70 black box under the column and that didnt make a friggin difference. I really dont want to fork out the money for the column switch... Could the problem be in the motor or is the switch the last place that could cause this?

Anything else to look for that I'm missing?

Heres the latest. I cleaned all contacts. Tried adjusting the bolt on the motor. Pulled the contact inside the motor and cleaned it. Its now making contact when the motor spins but its not cutting the power out.

My high is high, low is low, intermediates are now low, off is low, have to push the fluid on to stop them.

It's probably the switch. Might try getting one from a junkyard. Might be able to rebuild your own. With me half the time I buy a new one and take the old one apart to find it was repairable or I take the old one apart and break it beyond repair.:(

I think I've got the GM troubleshooting for the wipers online. Check posts by me in the last year or so for windshield wiper stuff. It would be up on my webshots gallery.

Sorry, I can't "see" webshots on my computer or I'd link to it.
