Wiper motor compatibility

The wiper motor on my 89 is getting weak. I found one from a 81 blazer but the wiper control in that truck was on the dash rather than on the turn signal as mine is. Will this work? Is there a difference in the wiper motors in regards to ones that have delay and ones that don't?

As far as I know the delay is in the dash not the motor, but I believe your plug on the 89 will be different from the 81 you are looking at, on the motor itself.

I seem to remember from looking on alldata at my shop thjat there are too types of motors for our year of trucks. The rare earth and the triangulated something or other. My point being that the rare earth magnet had two plugs for wiring one plug has two connections the other had three connections. I would think that if the electrical connections equal out for the motor control then they should be compatible. I'm not sure on the year swap but there is a motor that has a wiper pump on it so keep that in mind and hope this helped

'89 has a remote washer pump, the washer pump is incorporated into the motor housing on an '81.

Thanks for the info gents. The motor from an 81 will not work on an 89. Sorry about the noob question. After I posted I remembered that I could have just looked up the part in the LMC catalog.

In other news I have an 81 wiper motor someone can have if they need one.
