Ok I have searched but cant find quite What I am looking for. 89 blazer swapping out 700r4 for a 465 manual. First question, what do I do with the auto 4 wire plug? Will it cause a code being unplugged? Question 2 can you swap out a portion of a manual steering column to the auto column to get rid of the auto shift handle? And what about park/neutral switch allowing it to start?

A similar year column is sort of a direct swap, I believe 85-87(91). The only differences that you’d need to work out are the options (tilt, cruise, delay wipers, etc), all of it can be transferred or deleted.

A jumper wire in the neutral safety switch plug will satisfy that.

I’m no good on the trans info.

Having just completed this in my 91 it's really simple. The auto column will work just fine. Pull the chrome shift handle out of the column. Leave the it in park. Wire the lever (that connects to the trans linkage) on the bottom of the column to one of the mount bolts to hold it in park.

You'll need to unplug the two pin connector at the neutral safety backup switch and wire it to your backup light switch on the manual transmission. If you can find a factory manual trans truck in a junkyard you should be able to swipe that harness by itself as it is separate. If you can't all you need is two wires run to the switch. The switch closes in reverse and completes the circuit to turn on the lights.

Really nothing else has to be changed to make it function.

But you can remove the shift indicator from the cluster and cover that part of the lense with black tape. My '75 was a factory manual trans truck and it had the tape on the lens from the factory.

If the nub on the column for the shifter bugs you it's a great place to mount a tach from. Chop of most of the handle and leave the end that goes into the column and you can fabricate a slick mount that doesn't block the rest of the gauges.
