Wish me luck

My 6.2 seems to struggle up a steep hill empty, especially when you started off from a dead stop at the bottom of it--stays in second gear until you hit at least 35-40 mph,and it takes a good 1/8 of a mile to get it going that fast...but taking off on level ground isn't that bad,it seems to scoot right along..not as brisk as a 350 gas engine, but acceptable...barely..
I've had 250 straight sixes that would beat it in a drag race..

Merging onto a highway can be a butt clenching experience though, especially if you had to stop at the end of the on-ramp.....it takes its time getting up to 65 mph..cant get out of its own way..when you have a semi bearing down on you at 70+ mph, you'd better hope he either hits the brakes,or can go by you in the passing lane..
The six cylinder trucks I had were about the same deal...

I'm not sure what gears the truck has but they seem high, like 3:23 or 3:42's...I wouldn't want to tow anything heavier than a tent or utility trailer with it..
Once I did borrow a car trailer to haul a junk car to the scrapyard --glad it was only 5 miles away, and no steep grades between where the car was,and the scrapyard..
I had people behind me flipping me off and honking their horns...car was only a Escort Wagon ,the trailer was a heavy home made job though..the slight uphill grade on the way home made the truck bog down to 35 mph from 55 mph very quickly..

Right on!
How was your head on the trip?

I tend to pay a heavy price on these trips.

I'm down today probably will be for several days.

Not awful on the trip but i stayed fairly stationary well more than I usually do in trips.

That's to bad, but you had fun anyways!

I also always carry a spare loaded hub with me too just in case.

Well talk about jinxing myself...... I had to replace one of my hubs last Fri morning while towing around Washington DC. Nuts musta loosened, sheared 3 of the 5 by the time I pulled over....Then lost the other 2 ( Plus the wheel ) pulling off the highway. Replaced the hub and wheel and was on the road again in less than 1/2 an hour.
I've been carrying that spare hub around with me for 12 years before I needed it....Glad I had it.
