WL: Crusty 1985 K20.

So the other day I took it to the cut, for an obligatory attempt.

Spun out first try. Throttled through on the second attempt.

Here is a photo from the top.

Then I made a new trail.

Now I need a new windshield wiper......

My passenger side stainless drip rail trim did not make it either.

Here is a picture from my window repair fiasco.

In case you are curious, pink is 12v+, black with blue stripe and light blue are too the motor, tan and dark blue with white stripe are from the driver's side switch.

There is no ground.

Here was my actual issue.

This battery was due to be replaced. Every other week I would have to leave it on the trickle charger overnight (my DVOM shows 14.5volts at the battery while the engine is running).

Well some dipshit previous owner had downgraded to a top post battery. One of the worst previous owner mods ever.

Today was a good day to put a new battery in, and upgrade to stock side post battery cables.

I also robbed a stock hold down wedge and bolt from a parts truck.

I unloaded the axles I have been driving around for a few months. Those are heavy.

Now the driver's side sits up higher again......

Another fun fact I learned today. When the fuel gauge in this truck says an 1/8 of a tank, it actually means empty. Luckily it was only a couple miles from my old man's house, and he was able to bring by a couple gallons of gas.

I had to tear the cluster out to repair the power windows, so I am thinking about installing one of the tach dash clusters I have.

I can't stand when people don't put the hold down back in, or even worse, dont even screw the bolt all the way down.

I would have kept working on it tonight, but I have the biggest infestation of June bugs I have ever seen. This was under my creeper today. When the sun sets, and the yard light comes on, they become unbearable.

Does a factory manual gauge bezel still have the opening for a Prndl? Odd question but your bezel pic made me think.

Yeah, I assumed they had broken the bolt off, as is common, but no, just neglected to put it back in. Silly.

It does. The gauge cluster just has a blank black filler plate where the PRNDL indicator goes on an automatic.

Crusty as of right now. The Blazer needs a lot of work.

A lot of work I have not been giving it.

Thought it might be fun to see what a mostly stock rig could do down there.

Might not be.

I almost bought a Detroit Locker yesterday, but I wasn't sure if it would get here on time. I would have bought it last week if I had thought about it. Glad I didn't.....
