wont start after new trans installed

The new rotor going on is pointing in a different direction then the damaged one I pulled off. Im assuming from getting hung up on the cap. Is that ok or do I need to find tdc and reset everything

Well, you could always try just putting it back together and see what happens... You do know that the rotor is designed to only go on one way right? there is one part on the bottom of the rotor that should have a notch in it the corresponds to a tang onthe rotor mounting surface on the distributer shaft. That being said, it would certainly be BEST to find TDC first before moving on to let you know ahead of time if there are other issues. Do you know how to find TDC?

not surprising... think about it... you ran the motor... i'm surprised the rotor is even on top of the shaft and not in a million pieces laying on the ign module... i've seen sh*t like this in the boats, surprised the cap didn't just explode, thats usually what happens...

sure, put it at tdc and just make sure the rotor is pointing at the #1 tower, put cap on and fire it up...

The notch on the origial on was broken off on the dist shaft. The new one is is on where it is supposeto be. Tdc is turning the motor so # one cylinder is at the top and the notch on the frontof the motor is at the 0 mark on the timing marks?

with compression... finger over the hole, feel compression start, bring balancer to 0

She's alive. I have a few pieces of hair left but she'd running again. Thanks to everyone and their great advice. How's I gotta hope the trans I got is good

well done. its always something simple in the end. glad we didnt crush a perfectly fine truck due to a screwed up dizzy cap and rotor.
