I am trying to figure out what's wrong with my steering, hard to explain but just doesn't feel right.

I have the front end up off the ground right now, I turned the steering wheel full left, marked the steering wheel and the steering collum, and turned it full right. The two marks lined up a hair over 3 times...does that seem right? 3 full turns of the steering wheel to go from all the way left to all the way right?

Also how far out are the little bump stops on the knuckle/spindle supposed to be, my left side is in pretty far and does not come close to touching the axle, the right side is out a little farther and does touch the axle at full turn.

Awww no love for me? :( I shed a single tear... Lol

Oh well I knew my questions were lame, but I was under my truck and had no time to do a search, so I was hoping someone would chime in with a quick answer ;)

That is all.....carry on ;)

There is a recent garage thread (this week) that tells the turns lock to lock, but i couldnt' find it for the life of me last night. Sorry!

1. Wheels off ground like you currently have them.
2. disconnect one end of your drag link
3. Move your wheels by hand from one stop to the other.
4. If the wheels will not reach the stops as a pair disconnect one end of your tie rod and repeat test with each wheel by its self.

Process of elimination will tell you where the problem is located and then we can concentrate on that area to find the root cause.

What Rufus said -- Find out if the limitation in the steering is in the knuckles, or in the linkages. Also, make sure that your steering box is at center when the wheels are facing straight. That can make for some interesting steering characteristics otherwise (turn twice as far right as you can left, or vice versa, haha
