Maybe you just can't get enough air and you're over fueling. Add a turbo. See if it helps.

What diameter is that hole that’s left? Looks small.
You will not see a difference.
This CAT is clean.
I have had some really bad ones after the engine running too rich for a while.

It's put back together and I didn't mesjer, not that I could at the back of the cat. But the exhaust is 2 1/2" OD after the cats.
