Would 5,900CFM be enough?

i am runnin a taurus fan with no fan shroud...and idling around town i never even hit 190...and i live in FL where it's hot as h#ll. also, now with the high side, the a/c is noticeably cooler than with my stock fan clutch(new autozone unit) and fan. best 70bucks i ever spent. thought about selling them with all the wiring precut and relays and everything just plug and play...but i wasn't sure if there was enough of a market for them. maybe ill start another thread about this. these fans are a dime a dozen down here.

Clutch fan would do the exact same thing if it is shrouded and working right.

Yup there is a reason that $400 fan states "Not for heavy duty towing applications.'" Electric fans simply dont moove enough air. Unless they are high amp fans... Which leads me to my response to using Tarus and other Ford fans. Yes they work great and are high CFM fans. Problem Is they draw a lot of amps and will kill a stock GM 60 amp alt. Need at least a 100 amp to run them along with all other vehicle electrics without problems

i've acutally ran taurus fans on 4 different trucks, 98 zr2 4.3, 91 ranger 4.0, 01 z71 5.3, and my current truck. no problems. had a cheap relay melt once on a LOOOONG trip, but unplugging it and connecting two wires got the fan running to the nearest napa, where i bought one for 9 bucks. now i carry a spare. my fans move WAY more air than my direct drive fan did on my truck when i bought it and def. more than my fan clutch did. there will always be people who say they suck, but they don't know. that's why ALOT of major manufacturers are switching to them now...even on the HD applications.

I had a flex a lite fan w/o a shroud in my K5 when I bought it, having no luck finding a serviceable shroud, I swapped in a Taurus 2-speed with a homemeade (less than optimal) shroud, when my rad. cooling fins started falling out, I began having cooling issues, so I went to a Summit Aluminum rad. with a set of dual 3-speed fans out of a mid 90's Caddy, now, on the hottest days, on the steepest grades, I cant get the needle to move past the first mark on the temp guage. I have a feeling, though, that the aluminum rad. is doing all the work.

I would suggest that manufacturers are going to an electric fans for other reasons other than CFM capabilities of electric fans. Many new cars are running FWD with a transverse mounted engine, different configurations and technology - dropping cylinders when power not needed. I would think these are more the cause of the change. Form follows function.

The engine compartments are becoming much tighter, no room for manual fans as already stated, and there is very little room for heat dissipation.

There's a lot room in the Blazer engine compartment. There's enough room to house a small family. Electric fans won't prevent heat buildup. I agree, they do add to a clean look of the engine.

they do look purdy, but they also free up HP and make things alot "quieter" under the hood. the stock fan clutches on ALOT of newer trucks are very very loud, some GM trucks now come with dual electric fans also...so they must be better in more ways than one. but i do agree with what ya'll are saying. i drive an semi everyday and ya'll are right, i see it every morning on a the pre-trip...the fan clutch is there staring me in the face...saying, i still work great!!! haha, so it's really a toss up IMO, im gonna stick with my taurus fans though.
