Would you mind participating in a sway-bar survey please?

Thanks for all the votes and replies guys!:thumb:

I do plan on crossover in the future though

What's a sway bar?

Look under the front of your truck. It should look something like this picture and the bar that's circled in red is your sway bar.

Now, I ask you, how fast do you take corners in your fullsize chevy that only has a top speed of 85mph to begin
As fast as I can.
Last I checked my k5 could do 125. Shoot my highway cruising speed is 85 MPH. I like a truck I can throw into a corner and stay flat. Not roll all over the place like a beached whale.
I hate the way my blazer handles on the road without sway bars.
If i plan on doing any hard offroading I simply disconnect them.
If I had a trail machine it wouldn't have sway bars.
But my K5 is a multi purpose vehicle. I have to have sway bars, not only because I drive fast. But I also tow a lot. So for me sway bars are a nessisity.
Its really not that big of a deal to disconnect them when needed for off road.

I have crossover steering, so No sway bar. Now prior to crossover I purchased a set of diconnects. The first time I took it off road I disconnected the sway bar and never hooked it back up. So basically I wasted my money. I gave them to my neighbor who is currently using his sway bar.

Ditch the sway bar if you are into wheelin'! If you just like having a bitchin' street truck then keep it.

Wow, I can't believe the number of votes.

I was wondering how many people were using them, and I'm definitely getting a good sampling.

Plus I noticed in my searching this question came up often, so now I can link this poll anytime someone else asks the same question.

Thanks again everyone.:D

I haven't tried unhooking it yet, but I know my challenger really benefits from a swaybar...

I am probably 85% street driven, so a sway bar is important. I might even add a rear bar and just disconnect when I hit dirt/snow...

word

I put disconnects on my daily driven 9 inch suspension lifted k20. Disconnected them about a year ago when I was wheelin and still haven't hooked them back up. Very little difference, and you get used to the body lean and how to drive your truck. Don't waste money on discos if you fourwheel at all, if all you drive is street, you can go with or without the swaybar but if you keep the swaybar put discos in, even if you don't use them, it will free up the suspension and help your ride.

What do you have under the hood and through the drive train? My speedo is only good for 85 i think. I have a 700r4 and a 208 with a 375 hp 355 doin the pushin. Just want to get an idea of what my top speed would be.

Swaybar

I think it all depends on how you like to drive and where you drive. I took my swaybars off and was driving my friends up in the mountains here. Needless to say all of them had their but cheeks clamped on to their seats. I don't mind the sway because Im used to how a big truck drives, but I chose disconnects so when im driving my family, friends or girlfriend along they are a little more comfortable with my driving in the mountains. They are not used to driving in the hills because their all from florida. :D Off-road trips are usually planned and gets taken off before the trip.

I have a 4" lift running 37" tires I have a stearing stabalizer but still alot of "swim" when changing lanes does my sway bar help or hurt? I'd like to vote but don't want to take my sway bar off till I hear if it's an advantage or dis-advantage??

i dont mind unhooking my discos, i think they are trick. i have 3" EZ rides and its a little scary on mountain roads without it. i've even kept the rear swaybar the PO put on there. takes me about 6 minutes to undo all four corners. unless i had a stiff as hell suspension or drove like a grampa i would never remove them completly. all depends on your setup and driving style.

Ditto

if you move youre axle foreward you should have crossover steering in which case you can not run a swaybar anyway. The stock steering will not work very well with the axle moved foreward.
