Would you mind participating in a sway-bar survey please?

I have two sets of ORD disconnects.

You need some kind of pivoting linkage between the sway bar and the spring plates if you run more than 2" of lift. Otherwise you end up using the sway bar like a spring. The ride quality between sway bar disconnects and a sway bar connected directly is night and day.

If you leave the sway bar disconnected it rides a bit nicer. However, it handles like a dump truck. If you like to drive like a geriatric in a Lincoln Continental then you'll never notice the handling differences. If you brake hard while turning it dives so bad it makes it difficult to turn. You can not make quick maneuvers without a swaybar. The inside rear tire always unloads and locks up. You certainly can't powerslide on dry asphalt (hey, it's kind of fun), you'll just roll over like a pig in slop.

I took mine off about 2 months ago. The difference off road is incredible. It's never going back on! My axle is welded which is a huge pain in the ass on the road at times. Between 10 and 20 mph the truck kinda does a dive jerk bounce i wanna go straight no turn sorta manuever while turning. It's the sharp turns that I have to look for. It's really no big deal though... just be aware of it before you turn. Keep in mind that removing the bar can seriously change the dynamics of how your truck handles. Drive accordingly, and enjoy your new found flex!

Is it that big of a difference? 4 wheeler says you'll feel better articulation... how much? night and day or i think i feel a difference?

The sway bar can be a BIG limiting factor in axle articulation. The next most common limiting factors are shocks and brake lines.

What do you have under the hood and through the drive train? My speedo is only good for 85 i think. I have a 700r4 and a 208 with a 375 hp 355 doin the pushin. Just want to get an idea of what my top speed would be.

Engine:89 stock block/heads 350. Modded TBI, Ported intake, ignition, headers ect ect
Trans: 700r4
drive train: stock with lockers 3.73 gears
Suspention: stock HD with sway bars (dont really like lifts)
Tires: 33"

My spedo only goes to 85 too. But I have no problem putting the needle past 85 and peg it on the odometer reset button. I checked top speed in my K5 with my Mustang. It has a 160mph calabrated spedo in it. I was driving my K5, a Buddy was in my stang. I took my K5 up to 5000 RPM (not in OD) he said were were doing 125 MPH when I backed off. 5K rpm is where my engine runs out air with my set up. It pulls real strong up to 4500.

It's that big of a difference. Just take it off and enjoy.

Get rid of it. It's a truck, not a sports car. Don't see any reason for one if you're not doing high speed cornering. Sure, you might get some body roll going aroung corners, but simple fix, slow down.

Driving without a sway bar just normally everyday hasn't made much of a difference. I get a little nervous when rollin into a couple of freeway corners but other than that I can take corners as fast or as slow as I wish.

I have not however tried to tow our little travel trailer at anything approaching highway speeds. I have a 5 ish inch lift in the front and the flip in the rear so we'll see here in a while when we get a little bit more on our feet and can go play at the lake.

Just my two cents worth.

lmao....Y would I?

take the chip off your shoulder. Incase you haven't noticed your acting like your 17... unless of course you grew a sense of humor but i doubt it.

My answer is "no sway bar" but I definitely prefer the truck WITH one.

I'll be one of the minority voters here that prefers the way the truck feels with a swaybar connected. The softer your springs are (and I suppose your shocks too) the more you will wish there was a swaybar attached. Back before I had crossover steering, the swaybar made a big difference in streetability and dealing with the ORD discos wasn't a big deal. To clarify, the crossover didn't improve the handling, it just made it impossible to retain the swaybar.

..... but, I would still prefer my Porsche on a tight twisty road over any Blazer (with or without a swaybar). :cool1:
