Would you use an app for us gearheads? (available)

Would you use an app for us gearheads that calculated speed, mph, dynamic compression, etc...

I did check into it and at this time it appears there is not a way to use the decimal keypad with apple iOS while using an HTML based app in Xcode. If apple allows this in the future then I will implement it. For now Apple users just have to use the * as the decimal key.

What about adding some electrical info?
I’m working on wiring right now.

What about something for what gauge to use where.
Or what amps require what or a way to calculate something.

Idk I’m not great at this stuff. But I do know I opened the app to check for this stuff the other day which means I’m already starting to use it as a resource so that is good.

Obviously this info exists on the internet cuz that’s where I found it. Just trying to give feedback.

That's a good idea. I'll add that to my list as something to potentially add for a future update.

An amperage vs distance chart would probably cover most wiring needs.

I could also add the standard electrical equations such as Volts=Amps x Ohms, or Watts = Volts x Amps for people to use that would allow you to calculate any of those assuming you have the other two.

Can I ask a big favor if anyone using the App can post a positive review on it? If someone has a negative experience please let me know directly so I can try to fix it if possible.

I also ask anyone with an S10+ please check the operation of Gearhead Offroad? It works fine on my S10 but of course the first review ever has to be someone that was having an issue with not being able enter any inputs in it and gave it 1 star. Which I don't understand unless they disabled chrome or something as its a web based app that has not changed so if someone could please verify I would appreciate it.

Apps are available in the Google Play and Apple Appstore.

Thank you.

I didn't see any reviews yet in the Google Play store. I just left one for both versions. I only have 2 things that I noticed.

When I have the key pad up for the RPM calculator, there's no decimal key. I figured out I could press the * or # key to get a decimal. Not sure if that's the app or my phone keyboard. And maybe that's common knowledge and I'm just ignorant.

The other thing is that after installing both apps I got this screen.

Not sure if there's something you can do so that doesn't happen.

Thanks, I'll check into that and I appreciate the reviews.

Not sure what is going on there but it doesn't look promising does it, thanks for the feedback. I have never required any special permissions so that shouldn't be the case. The only thing I can think of is the link to my website in the about section.

As for the decimal that used to be an Apple only thing, but apparently the new Samsung keyboard does that now too. I typically use my Swype keyboard and it shows a decimal. With the apple you actually have to press a button to get into a different keyboard and then press the * key to get a decimal, I wish there was a way I could fix it but Apple doesn't allow you to select the keyboard with webapps.

Did you say these were fresh installs? Does it say that for both or just the Offroad version? When you installed it did it request any special permissions? (It shouldn't of)

Sorry it took me so long to get back. Yes they were both fresh installs. It was for the free version and the paid version. It didn't ask for any permissions. Under app info it says "no permissions required" and the app permissions screen looks just like yours.

FWIW, it is a Samsung Note 10+ running Android version 10.

Thanks guys, and that is very confusing it is saying that it can do all this threatening things to your phone when it doesn't have permission to do any of that. It makes me believe that it's all related to the link to my website. I specifically made this app to be standalone and require no special permissions and collect zero data from your phone, it's basically just a fancy programmed calculator.

This is the link to my "privacy policy" they require...

As you can see, its as simple as it gets, so it's frustrating they are labelling it as a malicious or threatening app. This software business is very confusing, definitely not my cup of tea, I just know math and automobiles, ha ha. I'll see what I can find out about it.
