PR stunt, clear and simple.
I owned a wrangler for a while, with the 4.0L and 5 speed, and dont get me wrong, it was fun for what it was, had some good times, and it never let me down, but if i had to choose between that jeep, and the griz, its no contest, especially after i flipped the jeep in a snow storm. The blazer is just such a better off road vehicle, and with a turbodiesel i really doubt it would have any problems beating those jeeps up the hill. my truck already has the MT/R's..... and theyre alot bigger

Yeah, like I said in the Pirate thread a Toyota with a 22RET could have done it in the 80's. The whole thing is a giant stupid contest where one manufacturer bests the other by like 100' each year for publicity.
