wow is all i can say

Ha, never seen that before. Seen it in hotrods when the dizzy doesn't fit. But that is stupid!!

For those who aren't into Rods:
The mouse is the small block.
The Rat is the big block.
Rat rod is a rod with a big bock

Actually, a Rat Rod is any vehicle that is built with whatever parts a person can find to build the vehicle and is either primered or flat/satin paint job to have an "unfinished" appearance even though it is finished. It has nothing to do with the engine being used as lots of people build them with buick/pontiac/olds/ford engines as well as both the common SBC and BBC. :deal:

That might be what it is today, but what I put up there is what was since they called the BB a Rat, and it can be any big block to be called a Rat.
But then again, I will not argue much about this, it's not really important.:dunno:

Sorry boys but paint or primer has nothing to do with it nor BBC or SBC in it.
A rat rod is a pile junk that is supposed to be a hot rod but due to lack of taste, money and common sense or any combination of the three, it becomes what ever they can weld to it. I've seen lawn chairs SCREWED to floor pans, '70s Camaros with front clip missing and headlights stuck to the frame horns and expanded metal for windows. Down right dangerous.
Rat rods are nothing more than art cars. Really poorly done art cars. I won't bother with the origin of it all.
Here is my last hot rod, '29 roadster pick up and yeah it was done.
Orig '29 A engine punched .120 over, hot cam, full '39 syncro trans, split header, down drafts carbs blah blah...like it rolled off El Mirage dry lake in '47. First day out of the garage went over 350 miles with zero problems. It became my DD for 3 months, never broke down.
No rats here.
Building hot rods since late '80s. Never went for the billet/SBC/auto street rod thing.
Always liked my traditional cars. Real hot rods have 3 pedals.

Yeah, "Rat Rod" has absolutely nothing to do with a Big Block Chevrolet engine.

Martin

Well then you really don't know your terminology at all, because a "Rat" is ONLY a Big Block Chevrolet.

Martin

I am just splitting hairs with you.
I know I screwed up when I said that and I ended up putting the description from WIKIPEDIA, not that they are the source for guaranteed info, but it seemed more logical than my explanation.
I have been out of the HotRod scene for 10 years, and I am getting old, so my mind isn't what it used to be.:doah:

What a waste of a good Chevy!
