Wrong Trans Fluid...How Bad Am I Going To Eff It Up?

Wonder if they are using the lighter fluid trying to get better fuel mileage?

Yeah, pretty legit for a company to come right out and say what I was probably thinking.

I've got about 30K miles on it and it's the wife's vehicle, so I don't drive it a whole lot, but the past few times I have, it seemed like it shifted hard and/or would get hung up while downshifting. It's a 3/4 ton 4x4, so I'm not expecting Cadillac smooth, but at least not noticeably clunking into gear. Cleaned out the pan and a lot of gunk on the magnet. My wife said she can tell it shifts smoother now, and for her to notice...I'm impressed.

Now, there was a for sure improvement. But, I'm not saying that it's because of Royal Purple. My guess is that any clean fluid and a new filter would have done the trick. But, I'm down with the RP.

Hello,

How is your transmission working after using RP MAX AFT? I see it has been over 6 years since you posted this. I am thinking of using Royal Purple Max ATF in my 2006 Cadillac DTS. Ant thoughts or advise. Thanks

Well it's been close to 6 years since he's been around.
He did check in a couple of months ago to say hi.
Not sure but I think he's still very busy.
Hopefully he has notifications on and sees this

Still going strong at over 130K miles. I'd definitely recommend it. I've heard some horror stories about the 6L90E transmission (though I've wondered how many are from towing loads that should have been behind a duramax/allison instead). I've changed the fluid pretty regularly every 30K miles or so, though this last time it probably went a little over 50K miles since no one really drives it as their primary vehicle anymore. The pan magnet was a little full of stuff, but other than that, it's been good to go.
