Hey Guys,

Who has the best price on Yokes and U joints for a NP205 and a 14BFF/Dana60 Setup. I also need to get some seals for the NP205.

Thanks,

Brent

I shopped around a little earlier this month and the going rate for a 1410 205 yoke was ~$90. I bought mine from H.A.D. and had it within 4 days.

Something to watch for is if the yoke(s) you buy use u-bolts or straps and bolts. U-bolt style yokes are preferred but may cost a tad more.

Take a look on ebay. Right after I bought mine from HAD I saw one on ebay go for like $40 for a D60 front axle.

When I bought mine Kyle NWF had the best deal. Jesse was another option.

Man there went $500. New 32 Spline Shaft, 2 1410 Yokes, 2 1410 U joints and a Seal/Gasket Kit for the 205.

And i told my wife all i was doing was puttin on bigger tires.LOL

Is your 205 a non syncro version?

check here for some details... http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=261694&highlight=76zimmer&page=10
look at posts 461-462, some more discussion earlier around 350 or so also.
basically the figure 8 205 I had was a non syncro type, and the round pattern was a syncro type. If you change to a 32 spline front output (for a 1410 yoke) you need the non syncro type, as the shafts are only made in non syncro type.

Mine is not the figure 8 it is the round NP205 with round adapter. So the shaft and u joints i ordered will not work?

Thanks,

Odds are in your favor that your 205 is not syncro'd, most are not. Syncro'd cases only came in mid 80's trucks (pretty sure only 1 tons) with the auto locking hub option.

This is a syncro'd case, note the oiling vein on the lower rear cover -

This is not a syncro'd case, no vein -

Something else to cover...

Your 205 will have a 30 spline front output from the factory. I think the yokes you ordered should be 32 spline as I'm not aware of a 1410 30 spline yoke. In order to use the bigger yoke you'll need to upgrade the front output shaft to a 32 spline piece, Ford 205's are a great source of donor shafts.

Mine doesnt have the vein and is a syncro'd 205. Damn now what??? I think ORD has a shaft but i dont know for sure if it requires machining?

This is what their site says:
NEW 32 spline front output shaft for NP205 - #GU4083 $160.00
Fits rare 80's syncro 205 with additional parts.
Call for availability on 30 spline front output shafts if you need one.

What do ya think???

I apologize mine has the vein, i just checked. So i am 100% sure i have a synchro unit.

Thanks,

I would suggest calling ORD and asking about that shaft before purchasing, the "with additional parts" part of it might kill the deal. Again, assuming your yoke is 32 spline, you're going to need a fair amount of parts to do the swap so a donor case is your best bet (Ford 205's are your best source as they're all 32 spline front and everything interchanges). You will basically need the complete lower front output shaft assembly (from rear cover to front seal retainer) plus the shift fork assembly for the same.

Thanks for all your help. I kinda understand, but Stephen at ORD is out of town until Monday!!! So that sucks.

Thanks
Brent

Maybe I'm making it worse than it is... 1st) is the yoke actually 32 spline? 2nd) If so, maybe call HAD and see if they offer a 30 spline version.

Just talked to Kyle at Northwest fab. He says the shaft i bought will work, but i would need 2 different gears a new big rear cover for the bigger bearing and a new shift fork. It is gonna cost me $85 more dollars.

Anyway i will let you guys know how it goes when i get the parts in and installed.

Thanks Again
Nvrenuf you were a great help!!!
