This car belongs to a friend of mine here in Ridgecrest, CA. It's a '96 Impala SS with 160k miles. He wants to trade it for a K5 Blazer/Jimmy.

The car works just fine - he's getting rid of it cuz he races motocross and wants something in which his wife/kid can to get to/from his races.

If you're interested PM me with what you've got to offer and I'll put you in touch with him.

Damn, I want a 96 Impala SS real bad but i'm not giving up my blazer. Oh well, one of these days i'll get an Impala SS, just have to save about 15K first.

Why 15K?
I had a neighbor that was into those, he was buying them and selling them after a little clean up and driving them for fun.
He was in the 5k-8k range. :dunno:
That was the last 2 years, maybe because of the economy people were desperate for cash??

I'm sure he meant to buy a really nice one and some mods

The high bluebook on it's about $6k...

That actually surprizes me, but I guess it's like our trucks, if you look at the BB value for a 1973 K5 I am sure it will not be the goig rate for it.:D
I know when he was buying and selling he was making money by buying from people desperate for cash and selling to people looking for a good car with lots of cash.:thumb:

i like when people make the Impalla SS Wagons...

Oh yeah....

theres one for sale about a mile from my house, I drive by it every day on my way to work. its the deep maroon color, and looks to be lowered slightly. other than that appears to be stock. I have no idea what they want for it though.

You can buy a 94 or 95 Impala SS in our area all day long between $3500.00-$6000.00 BUT a 96 Impala SS is going for $14000.00-$17000.00 all day long. I'm not talking about some jacked up piece of crap that someone has modded either, i'm talking about a bone stock 96 Impala SS.

I don't know what year thise were so i can't argue that.
Was the 96 the last year of the SS or even the Impala in rear wheel drive?

1996 was the last year for the Impala SS AND the last RWD Impala. It is most desireable because of it being the ONLY year to have a floor shifter and analog dash. The 1994-1995 both had a column shifter and a digital dash.

That depends on the K5. He wants something that's got a mild build (at least something like 35" tires and a 4" lift) and is ready to go. +/- cash depending on the relative values of the 2 vehicles.

I know this post is old but did your friend ever get rid of this car?
