im looking into getting a xj steering shaft for my truck, but r there certain years i should get? i was looking through threads and saw that some come with plastic insulators and some didnt,im thinking if it didnt have the insulators it feel like an old tractor in the steering wheel. can anybody direct me to the correct years to get?

The one I got came from an 89 XJ.. I believe it's the mid 80's up to somewhere in the mid 90's. Mine had a plastic sleeve inside of it(versus pins like others have reported), I just got it REALLY hot with a propane torch and pull them apart, then used a round wire brush to get most of the plastic out, greased it up and went.

The one I got was from a '91. Same deal as Jonathon - it was a pain to melt the plastic out, but it works.

Whatever you find... propane torch makes short work of both :D

o ok, i just didnt no if there were any pro/cons to them but i guess it doesnt matter, im sure my oxy/acetylene torch or propane will handle pretty well. thanks guys. ill let u know how everything works out.

An XJ is the little cherokee, right? Forgive me if that was a stupid question.
