well apparently since ive got the older style steering box, i cant do the xj shaft mod , so im just going to sell it. i bought it off another member on here and the thing is ready to go. the u-joints are solid.

Check out Borgeson, you may be able to get the piece for that shaft with the correct spline.

its a PSC box that i got for a good deal so im going to keep it. i bought a stock rag joint and its working fine for now. eventually ill look into an aftermarket setup to get rid of the rag joint

Why not change the steering box? They are cheap.

What year steering box should one bee looking for if he has the old one (I have a 77).

ive got a '78. it wont work for you, sorry. you need '80+ unless you get the borgeson piece
